    01/02 - Thorns Academy roster

Seems like the Thorns DA was able to assemble some of the best talent in the region for this age group, based upon comparison with ODP Region IV roster and US Soccer Training Center invites.

Yes, there are some who did not tryout for the DA, but this is arguably the best roster any club has been able to put together for this age group.

Question will be how quickly the coaching staff can further develop and get this group of young women to work together. Check back in 6-9 months for follow-up.

Wow! So exciting! Just think, mom will be able to post on social media about even bigger goal differentials next season. +100 GD? Why not! +200 GD? Anything is possible!

All mocking aside, we don't care. The one way that Thorns academy really benefitted Oregon soccer is the fact that the parents of these kids are no longer on the sidelines of our games. We don't miss you, and we won't "check back in 6-9 months for follow-up," because we're not interested.

How about YOU check back with US when one kid on this GDA team is rostered to the national team? That's when you will become interesting to us.

How about you check back in with us in August once your daughter actually starts training with the team. Until then, she's on her own. And once September comes along, they're going to train 2-3 times a week (which is code for 2x).

Oh, and start saving up for personal training, because if your little tulip isn't in the top 14, she won't even get the honor to ride the bus - let alone, the pine.

          Thanks mom.

Roster is weak. Best players were pine riders elsewhere.

Isn't private training prohibited? Any extra soccer besides regional & national team commitments is prohibited.

Only someone with breathtaking tunnel vision would say this was "some of the best talent in the region." I'm not saying either ECNL team did any better. The talented players are divided as follows:

              1/4 at Crossfire United
              1/4 at FCP
              1/4 at Thorns academy
1/4 on their respective local club teams

All academy did was dilute the talent further and the fact that you think they assembled the "best" on the GDA team (does that include the kid who was rostered because she is a carpool buddy with the starter?), shows how narrow your tunnel vision is.

This might be the best team you've seen mom but there were past teams including one age group that would destroy this team.

Top 01 teams in wa would handle this thorns team without question.

It's a shame that, being in GDA, they won't get to play the top teams in WA to see if this is true or not.

It never ceases to amaze me how bitter some people can be. The whole "crazy parent" theme is quite sad. I know some of the parents and girls you think you are referring to, they happen to be great people. Just focus on your own child and enjoy the journey.

Let me remind you that this entire thread was started by an 01/02 Thorns academy parent who felt the need to come on here and say "look at how great we are!" Great people. Very humble.

So this thread was started by a thorns academy parent that wants people to affirm their choice? Sorry not happening. Have fun locked in the GDA warehouse.

It is probably a decent team but not great.

Suggestion. Stop living in the past and focus on the present experience with your own club. You can choose to not read and reply to anything Timbers, Thorns, Timbers Alliance.

Positive affirmation is not a bad thing.

How exactly is it "living in the past" to point out the idiocy of this thread that was started about an hour ago? The OP could also have chosen not to post his/her post. The academy mom could choose not to post about +70 GD seasons on her social media accounts. The parents on this team do not hold any sort of moral high ground, so climb off your high horse.
