'DA Leftover''s sign up at random club (FC P in this case) and now want to play the DA. My friend you have no badge and no gun stick to playing rec kids and enjoy.

I find this insulting, and a tad bit insecure on your (and the other Timber's honks) part. Everybody knows the TA has some talented kids, but is also majorly influenced by politics. The best kids do not all go there. If you have never seen this team play, then I suggest you reserve your judgment until you do. The sports archives are full of "upsets" of allegedly superior and unbeatable teams. And let's be honest here, your opinion doesn't matter. You are a Timbers disciple and therefore have no credibity or soccer knowledge. Stick to telling (lying to) yourself that you know better...but one day soon you will realize differently.

The problem with the Timbers DA is that they still are too dependent on imported rather than homegrown talent. I don't expect that to change too much--the local youth soccer pool cannot supply the Timbers with all the players they need--in order to expand the number of local kids coming out of the bottom of the funnel, they will need to increase the number of talented kids going in.

That saids, "you are a Timbers disciple so shut it" is not an argument. You're obviously a FC honk, and equally biased in this matter. You're entitled to your opinion, but you don't get to pull rank.

But the DA U18s would no doubt smoke any local club teams. Even one full of DA castoffs. But do let us know if any of the FC kids go pro in a couple years, if for no other reason so the Timbers staff can be held accountable for failing to identify an elite prospect. After all, at this age puberty is (mostly) done with, so a fair assessment of the kids can be made as who who gets to stay and who gets to hand Jeff Probst his torch. And at this level, real money is on the line--so club politics is less likely to be a determining factor than it is for who gets in to ODP.

The best Oregon Boys do in fact tryout for the MLS Timbers DA program, problem is too many of them that get selected one year, are not sticking with the DA for more than a season as the Timbers cut them loose and their only option is to return to the OYSA clubs/leagues. No team in OYSA benefited more than this particular group of 00 boys, with DA casualties, that's all, it's why they can win games against rec teams from Milwaukie Oregon 12-0 in the OYSA State Cup semifinals. It is what it is.

It's pretty clear competition for this team doesn't reside in Oregon. The FWRL in Seattle should prove to be an interesting watch.
