1. This is not college. ECNL is a league to prep for college level soccer, so how is the player or benchwarmer going to acclimate to college level play when they are sitting on the bench? Sure, trainings with their teammates are good, but it's different from an actual game environment with more competitive teams from out of state.
2. Besides from being psychic, how are you to predict that your daughter will be a benchwarmer when you accept the spot after tryouts? In hindsight, I should have known that those spots were not earned. The starters are entitled. They were the same players who played the year before. The rosters don't change, no matter how hard the new players work or how talented they are.
3. It's ironic that you say the elite players earned those hard earned minutes. Seriously? Throughout this entire year, my daughter and her other benchwarmer teammates, have had to watch those starters miss practices and still get 100% playing time. They missed more practices than the benchwarmers. Then, we all had to watch the starters make mistake after mistake in the games but the coaches, unconsciously biased, were too oblivious to see these mistakes. The coaches don't understand why they are winning these games. it's simple. Because these elite starters are making mistakes and they cannot play 80 minutes of a high pressure game. They are too tired, but the stupid coaches don't see this.
Those starter spots are entitled, so don't even argue that those were hard-earned minutes.
