The only unfair part of all of this is that GDA should only pay for the girls that can't afford it. Many of the Academy girls families can easily afford to pay their own way. Dumb & unfair to make all the oysa families pay when many of them are already struggling to pay their own kids way. That only leads to resentment of Academy.

OYSA pays Peregrine to run the leagues and cups. Peregrine is free to do what it wants from whatever profit it gets from that.
Separately, Peregrine pays for DA and GDA.
No reason to assume that the income from the first is directly tied to the expense of the second--unless if you're a honk from a competing "elite" girls league trying to throw a wrench in the works by sowing discord. For all we know, the guys in 107 buying beer are paying for the GDA, and OYSA league/cup fees are paying for Diego Chara's salary.
Again. Fungible. FUN-GI-BLE.

Huh? The MLS & NWSL teams pay for the kids in their USDA programs, that's how they are set up all over country. Why in god's name is that unfair, to who or whom?
What the hell do OYSA families fees for soccer have to do with the Timbers/Thorns funding their own USDA programs. They have no connection, they are independent of each other.
Let's resent these academies because they are funded? OK brilliant.

*FC Portland coaching staff run an OYSA sanctioned Spring League and market their club to all teams attending.
*SSC runs an OYSA sanctioned Fall league and markets their club to all teams attending.
We play in their leagues with the little one but have never considered going to their clubs.
Clubs give away Timbers/Thorns tickets.
It's just so messy and corrupt, right!!

Peregrine employees Mike/Erik purport to administer those programs, but lately seem to spend most of their time pimping the Thorns Academy to families met through ODP.
It isn't complicated and no conspiracy theory required.

Many teams in Oregon played much tougher schedules. Thorns lined up the lightweight competition like the way promoters have the champ play creampuffs to build their record up.
Beaverton cup?
Los Angeles against C level teams.
Vegas against weak teams.

Millions & Millions more dollars flow into the Peregrine coffers from local TV advertising deals, Providence Park naming rights and ticket sales. Their employees still promote everything that is Peregrine, camps/DA's/timber joey blind dates/group ticket sales/t-shirt/foam fingers/live in camps etc..etc..
It's called running a professional sports business, what's wrong with that?
No matter what kind of monies flow in as income they are offset with things called expenses. like a 4 million dollar transfer fee for a south american player. or a scouting trip to south america to look at players. this is a big business folks.
Crafting your own ideas about things is simply called a vivid imagination. Which is a nice thing as well.

If Peregine hadn't stepped in when it did, OYSA would have had to file for bankruptcy. OYSA had already laid off most of their staff. Then you would have seen 1000s of rec and classic kids without sanctioned leagues and tournaments, ODP, state cups, TOPS soccer, coaches' training programs, ref classes, supplemental insurance, and background checks.
US Club soccer-from which ECNL was sprung and OPL, tried but just couldn't pull it off here after a few years.
The price to play goes up every year regardless of the association. The Timbers also cut their U-23 program and redirected funds to the DA and GDA. If you don't believe contact them. Have a nice tomorrow.

The schedule wasn't the best but the kids had fun. Why would you care anyway?

Do a sliding scale and make it free for the ones that need it, but don't make other more needy Oysa parents pay for the wealthy kids too.
