Originally posted by Unregistered View PostThe cost of the GDA is subsidized by every youth soccer player in Oregon. League and tournament fees are collected from every team and every individual player in the state that plays in an OYSA league and are then funneled into the Timbers organization. These funds subsidize the Academy players. Thus, whether your kid plays rec, club, ODP, ECNL, etc, you are paying for both the boys and girls Academy programs. The DA is still a pay-to-play model - you just have the backing of every youth soccer player in the state.
I don't think the average club or Oregon player knows just how much of their fees goes to the academies. I think most think OYSA is not for profit and I think most think the majority of money goes to them. Learn something new every day I guess! But my personal opinion is how dare they advertise free travel and not recognize everyone in Oregon funding it? Kind of rude if you ask me.
