Its going to be more than $2000 guaranteed.

Adding the additional age-group was a surprise to many GDA clubs and they are having to rework the budget.

The stunned coaches left at Crossfire utd & FC Portland who weren't recruited or tapped for placement in the staff of the NWSL Portland Thorns GDA are pissed and confused.

#1) She was chosen over them
#2) The reality of her decision makes their league choice seem stupid.
#3) Who in their right mind will pay 10-12K to play in their league of choice when the NWSL Portland Thorns GDA only costs $2000 and all travel, transportation and lodging is covered.
#4) All they are left to sell is themselves and the cost of travel to those that don't make the NWSL Portland Thorns GDA.

After they work through those feelings of isolation and desperation they do indeed lay on the floor and the laughter turns to tears.

      They have been exposed.
She was "chosen" because all the good coaches turned the Thorns down flat. Not to mention that all of your points above are completely fake news. Just the facts.

Thorns GDA will turn into the Timbers DA as the place for the best of the best in Oregon and SW Washington. Always nice to have a head start. Well done NWSL Portland Thorns GDA.
What happens when the NWSL folds at the end of this year? And when you find out that $2,000 was actually a misprint - it's really $20,000.

None. She's maybe the 100th best coach in Portland but the only one stupid enough to accept an offer from Thorns Academy. What a joke!

What were the last two teams she coached?

It's true that Oregon has never had a US Soccer Development Academy for Girls prior to US Soccer tapping our NWSL franchise Portland Thorns as the only program in Oregon history, so far. Which resembles the MLS franchise Portland Timbers US Soccer Development Academy that is funded as well.

These kids are so lucky to have the US Soccer DA & GDA program paid for by Peregrine. The local non-profit kids clubs don't have the business acumen or any type of network full of donors who would be willing to fund this kind of youth centric program that have enormous travel costs attached to them. Once they figure out how to fund it they might be able to compete for the top shelf of players and get into the national league side of this platform. Until then, it's back to work feeding the top of the pyramid.
Exactly what kind of drugs are you on?

If all of the ECNL players move to GDA, then Thorns will keep NONE of the current players. Why keep "B" teamers and pine riders when the real "A" teamers come to tryouts. Too bad for Thorns that that won't happen though, so all of the current Thorns Academy players hold be safe for another year of playing rec-level teams like Lamorinda and flying at least 15 weekends for competition that is lower level than OYSA Premier.

NorCal top clubs all passed on GDA so Ecnl will still be very strong there. No reason to switch out of Ecnl now. If GDA truly takes off, the Ecnl players can switch over later. Same with all the good clubs in NorCal. No point jumping ship from a proven program until GDA actually takes off, proves itself and has better clubs to play against. '17-18 year GDA league for Thorns is currently quite weak.

The 04s will be the best players in the state. Not for any other birth year.

Actually no coaches from FC PDX or Crossfire were tapped by GW for the GDA thorns, never even a conversation was had with any of that ilk. The only one 'asked' and who got a contract was the new rube DOC at THUSC. Stop lying.

No one who was asked turned it down.

So let me do the math and try and figure this out. Say 28 on the roster (more if the numbers are there)

About 6 play the whole game throughout the year, another 12 play half a game every other game, and the other 10 very rarely see the field for any meaningful minutes. Aren't the 22 role players really the ones subsidizing the 6 that are being showcased? How long is that really going to work before the players and parents finally see what is going on?

                                ECNL operates the same way.
