Do you have to pay or try-outs before they share any info with you?
Yes I think so or have someone in RTC forward to you Lyslo's email letter.

This is all real and was rolled out to the existing Thorns Academy families and ODP/RTC families first. We received the email and I shocked at the $2k price tag which covers all costs, including travel.

They'll probably post it online this coming week. But, it is real.

It's so freaking obvious the first five posts of this thread are from ONE poster. Call me out. We can request the moderators to post the IP address.

Obviously this person has an agenda... gda! gda!

Risky business choosing an option with not an ounce of proven record. Lol. Thorns is the backing? That alone should detract ALL decent Oregon players with an ounce of soccer smarts.

Follow proven track records. Or follow a new program. Be the guinea pig!! Cheers to the GDA guinea pigs. All the best.

This will be an unbelievably amazing deal. Coaches will be scouting at state cup games and inviting kids to Thorn practices for ID training before May tryouts.
You stated the $2,000 fee and all travel expenses are covered. What a fantastic opportunity!! Thank you for your generosity!!! If the clubs or Thorns don't provide paid travel expenses, you stated on a public forum that it was covered! We all know we can demand your name from the owners of this blog for payment or lawsuit opportunities for false advertisement.

                Thanks again!

Surprised it's 2K, when word on the street was going to be $1500. Close to the rumored amount though. It's true that Oregon has never had a US Soccer Development Academy for Girls prior to US Soccer tapping our NWSL franchise Portland Thorns as the only program in Oregon history, so far. Which resembles the MLS franchise Portland Timbers US Soccer Development Academy that is funded as well.

These kids are so lucky to have the US Soccer DA & GDA program paid for by Peregrine. The local non-profit kids clubs don't have the business acumen or any type of network full of donors who would be willing to fund this kind of youth centric program that have enormous travel costs attached to them. Once they figure out how to fund it they might be able to compete for the top shelf of players and get into the national league side of this platform. Until then, it's back to work feeding the top of the pyramid.

My daughter is definitely trying out for Thorns DA, but their website doesn't say anything about a flat fee. Thorns DA says everyone will pay a $1600 state fee and everyone will pay a flat fee for travel and that amount is $2545. Keep in mind the flat travel fee says it is an estimate. Some of the estimates look reasonable because they must be driving, but how do you fly, lodging and feed girls for $300 to Vancouver BC. Are they holding the Vancouver Showcase in Vancouver WA?

You are looking at last year's numbers on the website. This year's numbers have only been shared with current thorns/ODP/rtc players.

That makes me feel really good considering some of the other DA programs have very specific and detailed info on their website. What are the Thorns hiding?

Not hiding anything. Just first notice to loyal family members. The deeper question is how many of current Thorns Academy payers will they keep on GDA team. Will they truly go for the best players even if it means replacing current players?

They will try and peel off players from ECNL to join TA girls. But will those ECNL kids risk a new GDA or stay with their tried and true league? The ECNL teams here are underperforming regionally but the player makeup on GDA may be worse.
