Are kickarounds before tryouts legal?

Many clubs, like most of the TA clubs, don't bother advertising kick arounds because it's extremely embarrassing when nobody shows up while, at the same time, your top players are at FCP, Crossfire, etc kick arounds...

Nice try. Every year plenty show up for these things and then for tryouts.

Even then an early commitment means nothing.

What often happens is:
1. A coach or parent will convince players to switch clubs en masse, so you could see those players at a"kick around."
2. A coach or parent will convince players to switch clubs en masse, those players don't attend a "kick around" and go to tryouts.
3. Player(s) go(es) to tryouts, accept(s) to play for the team, then is(are) contacted by another coach at another club-a club the player(s) never tried out for, and then commits to that other club's team.

Simple solution here, if the coach wants the kid badly then, make their an offer parents can't refuse. Waive all fees.

WT fees are a little more last year. $1150 for U9-U10, $1550 for U11-U15, $1450 for U16+. $100 off if you pay in full at the start of the season, 10% off for multiple kids, financial aid available.

Still one of the better deals in town. Includes training, fall and spring leagues, Beaverton Cup (which admittedly is WT's own tournament), one OYSA cup (Founders, President's, or State), and lots of futsal.

For comparison (U11-U14, all prices given are non-discounted):

Yes it happens too often by some manipulative families who think their kids are so good they should be sponsored by 10.

Or people pitch in, because we know that adding that one good player will elevate and improve the game of everyone on the team.
