In general (and it may be somewhat later here) nationally by junior year for Top D1 is pretty much too late, especially if you're hoping for any $. Soph/junior year more the norm for lower level D1 and certainly D3. By senior year it's whatever is left - very low level programs, no money or maybe a spot that opened up unexpectedly. No one is officially committed to D1 until an NLI is signed - it's all verbal until then and both sides can back away (although that doesn't happen often). There is no NLI for D3 (it's all verbal), there is no athletic money for D3 and coaches have very little pull in getting a slightly under qualified student past the admissions process.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostIt's not entirely too late but definitely well behind the 8 ball. One problem is the process takes time. Coaches usually want to see players a few times at showcases and/or Id events, then there's visits to schedule (and worked around school days, vacation days) etc.

But hey, who would think an Onyx parent would be honest?
Yes, four of them to Portland State in a recruiting class that had 14. That's right, 14. Pretty exclusive.
And there was what, one, that signed with Oregon who is going to be sitting with a roster of 32, and that's before walk ons, of which I understand that there is at least one former local girl who is walking on there. A roster of 33 (at least). Good luck with that.
