Of course it will. Best thing for all Oregon girls would be no Ecnl or GDA. One premier league with all players. The one or two actually elite girls can be discovery players w/good WA teams. Back in the day Oregon placed more girls in college and spent a lot less time & money doing it.

Difference today is that the Alliance clubs and Thorns Academy aren't developing girls and getting them into college anymore. CU and FCP can only do so much - about 40 per year - the rest of the state needs to put up or shut up.

t isn't just about numbers but more so WHO tries out. Most GDA clubs will be able to fill rosters. But many will be lower level players - say an ECNL player that gets no PT. The top players, the ones GDA wants, aren't jumping into it. This is especially true of HS aged players who are already recruited or have started the process.

I'm speaking in generalities mostly because OR is in a different dynamic, but some is still relevant

Oregon soccer will simply be even more spread out and watered down. Most of the better players will stay put. NorCal top teams decided to stay with Ecnl for now. Our GDA league won't be good. Yet another reason to wait a few years on GDA. GDA, or something completely new might end up being king in 5 years but in the meantime Oregon soccer will be a complete mess.

This applies to almost every age group, putting a patch on a sleeve is akin to putting lipstick on a pig

FC's 05 and 06s are very strong. Adding NEU's 04s, 05s, and 06s (all top 5 in the state) to pipeline.

FC's ECNL program has never looked stronger!

              Thems the facts!

Same with ECNL. Traveling the 7th graders like that with 4 Day per week practices is absurd.

FC Portland ECNL 2001 finished fourth in OYSA a little over a year ago. So they're better now? Third place OYSA maybe?

Why would a top NEU 04 or 05 spend $8k a year on ECNL and drive 40 minutes each way to Liberty HS for practices when they could spend $2k all-in for GDA and drive 15 minutes each way to practices? GDA. Like the boys DA, will be the top program for girls in the country in the next two years. GDA for an 04 or 05 is a no brainer.

FC Portland does not even have a premiere level OYSA team of 04s. They have had that group of girls for years and just cannot develop them to a higher level of play. They are counting on better developed NEU and BSC players to join. Coach has been heavy recruiting 04s from several clubs already.

Maybe because GDA will be worse than staying at NEU?
