If any of our clubs truly developed players, we'd have many more Oregon girls going D1. It's the individual girls that have the genetics & then work harder on top of their blessed genetics. Doesn't really matter where they play as long as they can play. More chances to be seen by colleges playing ecnl though.

Development of an athlete is like carving a statue. If the raw materials stink, it ain't going to work. But the statue won't carve itself.

But still--arguing about who gets "credit" for a young collegiate athlete--the rec club that first inspired her, the classic club that trained her through the formative years of late elementary and middle school, or the HS-age club that helped her market herself to collegiate scouts--is pointless.

If TA clubs aren't happy being in the Alliance, why haven't any opted out yet? No guts no glory.

That is a good question. Don't really care what those clubs put on their jerseys; the OYSA/Timbers thing stinks though.

Timbers Alliance clubs develop players. ECNL league teams just recruit.

So what. It is expensive to develop and if you can let someone else pay for that and get them to play their last year with you why not?

Thorns Academy is even smarter. They get the Alliance clubs to develop the players and then continue to have the Alliance clubs pay all their expenses even after they leave and play for Thorns.
