Hardly "heavily loaded" but the ECNL clubs do pick up the best athletes from the Timbers clubs and then develop them into soccer players.

There are 9 Timbers Alliance clubs now with the 2 new ones in Idaho and combined they don't put more players in college than the 2 ECNL clubs do.

Well to begin with it's an obtuse comment to say ECNL puts any kids in college. ECNL is a soccer league that provides some kids with exposure to college scouts ranging from lower community college all the way up to Division 1. Most kids that move on have exceptionally high grades. The ones that don't get scooped up by community colleges. How many years has Oregon ECNL been exposing kids to College scouts at their "showcase" events that cost parents $9k a year to attend? If you remove Onyx ( because Crossfire did not develope any of those players) .. how many have moved on and to what level and to what schools over the past let's say 10 years. Throw into that how many of those girls were of color and lower socioeconomic status?

        Looking forward to stats!

On an average year TA teams put 2x as many kids into college. Fact.

That doesn't count the kids developed at TA clubs that were at ECNL clubs at the very end.

TA clubs don't develop anything. That's why their best athletes have to leave for an ECNL club by U14 if they want to actually become soccer players.

ECNL just provides the platform. It's the ECNL member clubs that develop the players and get them ready for the college game. Something TA clubs know nothing about.

75% of kids on ECNL teams were developed at TA clubs. ECNL coaches recruit heavily from TA.

ECNL is a final place to play. They are not concerned about development.

                      And what's wrong with that?
Kids play their early years at their "local" clubs and the cream rises to the ECNL.
Those kids that want more / have the skills etc. outgrow their little Timbers teams and graduate to the ECNL.
Nothing wrong with that. It's a good thing that they have a place to take their game to the next level.

This is true. ECNL is the final place to play. Not moving on after that except to Rec Indoor somewhere.. if they haven't burned out already.

As evidenced by FC Portlands top 04 team who is struggling to not be in last place in the second division.

Yet these girls will slap on an ECNL patch and pay four times as much next year to fly around the region and get throttled. GO FC Portland!!

Timbers Alliance clubs develop players. ECNL league teams just recruit.

If any of our clubs truly developed players, we'd have many more Oregon girls going D1. It's the individual girls that have the genetics & then work harder on top of their blessed genetics. Doesn't really matter where they play as long as they can play. More chances to be seen by colleges playing ecnl though.

If TA clubs aren't happy being in the Alliance, why haven't any opted out yet? No guts no glory.
