My DD lives for soccer, so I drive her there, pick her up, and pay for it all. She's my daughter. It's what we do.

If you choose to spend your money in a different way, that is fine too. If she gets a soccer scholarship - great. If she doesn't, it's OK. They're not investments, they're children. I'm not looking for ROI. I'm looking for happy, healthy, well adjusted human beings.

This is the way to do it. Enjoy and don't do it for scholarships or some ROI.

I never said anything about the Thorns. We have a family friend who switched from ECNL to Thorns and is doing great. The Thorns bashing is pretty stupid as well.

The change in coaching staff helped the Thorns attract players. Why anyone would wish a kid to have a bad experience is beyond me... Good luck to all the kids on ECNL and Thorns teams.

So they have announced the new 2017-18 GDA coaches? Please give us the link, the only drawback for the Thorns Academy was the current coaching staff of locals who never developed any player, it resembled nearly the same re-treads at the ECNL clubs FC & CU.

As they both were products of the SSC, THUSC & LOSC accent heavy-- knowledge light ilk.

Really Screwed?? I guess if you call getting your college education paid for! And please don't come back with it cost you $6k a year!!! It doesn't - please please stay with the thorns! That is where you belong.

That's not happening with the U17s and below. Good luck to those girls on getting offers. Giving up over 5 goals a game and not scoring any doesn't equate to offers.

It would seem you know very little about either of the coaches. Since May '16 tryouts they have significantly improved the program. It must have been their accents that got them both USSF A licenses...

A lot is known about this ex pats...(expatriates) if they improved any program it must of been beyond rock bottom when they began; one is known for club hopping and field hopping (for privates) the other is known to coach private schools with privileged & affluent kids that play year round soccer are goof around at the HS level of play for giggles. So who are these guys being replaced with for the Thorns GDA? In the effort to improve it and of course to have a chance to be relevant? If it stays the way it is thing nothing has improved, except for ye of little insight or knowledge on the said forum.

Someone who will lament spending thousands on a daughter who was unskilled but told by the CU ECNL coaches "she has potential". Hope she has an extra room in her house for you to live in due to that dwindling nest egg. However, given that she is going to live with you post college, since she can't get a job, well that presents quite the conundrum. It's like the retirement black hole.

Kind of, the GDA bound Crossfire Premier hammered our local Crossfire franchise by wide margins all day. The good news is the other Washington club that came to town this weekend is staying in the ECNL (not selected for GDA) and they aren't very good. Whew.
