ECNL results so far

They don't look very attractive.

So far, going from U14-U18 for FCP: 10th, 4th, 5th, 5th, 9th, 9th. Overall record of 11-12-10

For CU: 12th, 13th, 9th, 16th, 10th. Overall record of 6-17-7.

When comparing to Idaho and Utah, FCP looks pretty good. CU looks barely competent.

CU has a GD of -36 (and reminder, this is having only played 4 to 5 games for each team)
FCP has a GD of +16, with only one team, the U14, having a negative GD, and it's only a -1.

A couple of years ago, people wondered which of the two clubs would become more dominant. Well, it's pretty clear. If you look U14-U17, CU is just awful. Kind of funny that they have four or five "feeder" clubs yet are just terrible. They have one age group, the U18s, to hang their hat onto and when that team is gone, every age group will be terrible.

I would think that any parent of a fairly decent CU player would be rethinking this entire situation. If you are going to play ECNL and want to be on a team that is somewhat competitive, you might have to rethink that driver to Liberty or up to UP.

The 2001 ECNL FC Portland team didn't even do well in OYSA a year ago. ECNL is probably harder than OYSA in some regards.

Every time FC Portland ECNL tries to make themselves look good people bring up their historical record. It's not fair. Let them do their fake marketing.

Give it a rest. If you don't want to do ECNL, don't do it. No one is forcing you and ZERO dollars of your fees are going to support the ECNL teams (unlike the subsidy you are paying for Thorns Academy teams), so rest easy. The difference between ECNL playing in showcase events around the country, and against the top ranked teams in our region, versus Thorns Academy playing league games against decimated OYSA teams is pretty clear. Obviously you think Thorns Academy's philosophy is the best one. That is your right, and good luck to you.

The CU U17 team is 0-6 and has had 33 goals scored against and has scored zero. If they were a horse, they would be shot to put them out of their misery.

With GDA rearing its head I would think ECNL should be afraid. If I had an 04G would lean towards GDA. The Oregon ECNL clubs are not developing their players.

Sure. Just like the anticipated Thorns Academy was supposed to rear its head. Well, I guess they did, at the Beaverton Cup, as noted on another thread.

Someone is quite defensive and likes to deflect. Must have a daughter on that CU U17 team. 33 goals against? Sheesh. $10,000 a year for weekly beatdowns. Who coaches that disaster? Will anyone actually claim they them?
