We are so called little da
Westside's DA teams will be playing in Beaverton Cup. It's not a DA tournament and not DA rules (two games per day).

Apparently, coaches did get approval from US Soccer for this--since it's in the offseason, I guess it's OK.

Once playoffs are done but before team practices start in August yes you can do non DA soccer. Read the USSF rule book, it's pretty explicit

Also depends on age - they'll be more flexible with the younger teams who don't travel as much and aren't at nationals. Always best to get approval though, you never know

So are all DA teams barred from participating in ODP this season? If so what are they going to replace it with?

            Odp

Well, ODP is eliminating what would have been the oldest group (2004) and extending their youngest age down to 2008/2009 (combined). The 2005 group is now their oldest group. Kinda weird that they are starting ODP for kids potentially as young as seven years old.

Kids not participating in DA can still do ODP.

DA doesn't need to replace ODP with anything. It has it's own talent ID system called NT scouts. Any non DA ID program is not allowed as per DA rules. There's already been a steep decline in ODP quality on the boys side because of DA and now you'll see it crash on the girls side.

The Thorns GDA players didn't have to do state odp but all get to go to odp regional camp if they want. Sweet deal. Isn't it the same on the boys side?

They're replacing it with DA. DA is way higher up in the pyramid. No need to go back down when you've already been identified for the national team path. ODP is now only for the late bloomers, outlying area players and the missed diamonds in the rough.

DA boys do not participate in ODP. Those players probably are getting grandfathered in because they were already in. Same with HS. Moving forward they will not, nor will they want to. If your kid really is NT material, you want him or her in DA, not ODP. ODP or ID2 are B league at best from here on out. Nice resume fluff if your kid isn't in a top league but has little importance any longer.

I'm not a DA supporter but understand it's role in the identification process. However, the likelihood of any TS reader having an NT kid is pretty slim so, don't fool yourselves. Find the best club and team for your child to play on. It may or may not be DA

On the girls side, the bubble players that don't make the full DA teams can continue to do ODP, but it isn't encouraged since they are past that level already.

This formation of a local league of clubs(little DA) is simply that, clubs electing to play against themselves vs. the US Club or USYS league/tournaments.

What's lost on all this disguised re-branding is the fact these are all the same irrelevant clubs that have always been operating in Oregon. Nothing has changed.

Clinging to a moniker is all that's left for the marginalized masses. God Bless them all!

It's a proven brainwashing paradigm shift model that worked for a couple of seasons at CU and FC PDX with the US Club Soccer league (ECNL).

Big changes that we can only hope carries over into the painful state wide leagues.

Only one game per weekend allowed. This has been a godsend.
Having medical staff at games. We fail our kids by not valuing health and welfare of our players. It should be number one.
Having to video every home game.
Must have a B license to coach.
Curriculum, sessions and games uploaded for evaluation. Accountability comes about.

                            U12-14
                            Futsal Cirruculum mandatory.

Everything above is much better than working with the ADF circus training, GPS curriculum that can't be implemented to more than one team, Westside coaches that coach like it's 1993 all within the local tournament gong show schedule and stupid two game a weekend league schedule.

The majority of the clubs in the little DA are Gong Show contestants. So be it.

So they lowered their standards to B license coach now?
