Until you play someone of merit you need to RELAX....

While ML is moving on to the Timbers Academy, he was guest-playing for WT today. (Quite a few other starters were missing, so I don't feel the least bit guilty about that). The opponent was Monarcos Watsonville, a town halfway between Santa Cruz and Monterey. (As the road runs--halfway as the crow flies puts you in the middle of John Denver's grave). Monarcos were a big, skilled, physical team, so this game was big-boy soccer from the get-go, with fouls aplenty. Westside gave every bit as good as they got and then some, with two players from the local side getting booked.
In the first half, the visitors from California had the advantage, twice getting behind the defense on breaks and scoring. After some halftime adjustments, Westside dominated the second half, getting lots of chances, but didn't get a goal back until ten minutes left. With less than five left, the equalizer was scored. and neither side were able to find a winner. (The U15 games are short; only 30 minute halves.)
Thus the two teams split the points, with each getting five points in the tournament's scoring system.
Tomorrow morning, Westside takes on the Crows, and Monarcos is matched up with ADF.

I don’t blame you as a parent because you grew up in the wrong environment and have never been taught how to develop a soccer player...but your coaches and DOC’s have.
Plus. As a logistical matter, shorter games make running the tourney easier.
