Originally posted by Unregistered View Post? This makes no sense, the kid is talented and can flat out put the ball in the back of the net. Does he get away with a lot sure, but that is not his fault he plays to the whistle and if the refs thought it was excessive he would have far more cards but HE DOES NOT.. I actually admire how hard he plays and have not seen anything so agregious (including the 50/50 ball with ADF hypocrites son last year) that he should not be in the field. And I am not a fc parent...
He has a bit of a reputation for being a dirty player--foot stomping, shoves, etc. when the ref isn't looking. And taunting, including the taunting of injured players. And there's two schools of thought on that sort of play.
1) It's part of soccer, so deal with it. Learn to live with it, perhaps learn to dish it back out.
2) It may be "part of soccer", but it should have no place in the beautiful game. Referees that look the other way, and/or coaches that tolerate this, are doing players a disservice.
Personally, I'm somewhere in between. Soccer is a contact sport, and fouls are part of the game. OTOH, there is certain types of conduct that clearly AREN'T acceptable. Nigel de Jong breaking legs ought not be tolerated as "part of the game", anywhere. Deliberately trying to injure someone isn't acceptable. And players serve lengthy bans for this sort of thing, so it's clear that some contact crosses the line.
Does #9 for FC cross that line? I'd say sometimes, yes.

I agree that dirty play with the aim to injure, like what you often saw from the likes of Roy Keane and Nigel deJong have no place in soccer and should be dealt with very harshly.
I think you’ve crossed a different line when you accuse the FC player of the same intent.
You are flat wrong. In the years I’ve seen him play, I don’t recall any red cards. That’s a lot of games with a lot of different refs all missing his intent to injure? Come off it. You should be ashamed of yourself.

But he did clobber a Westside defender good and hard in that game, and then proceeded to taunt the injured player as he lay on the ground. So you'll pardon us if we have a negative view of him. He is a kid, so we hope he grows up (maturity-wise); lots of people do dumb things as kids and turn out fine.

Sorry to hear that still is important to some folks. Moving on to recent history, he has received four cautions. He is aggressive and sometimes he can talk ****. Like all the other players in this league he is certain to mature. So what your players get when they play against him is the opportunity to test themselves against a big, fast, aggressive, mouthy, baller who will give them no leniency. Pretty cool, huh?

The WT kid knocked out, OTOH, isn't at all a dirty player.
Don't remember any pthotographic analysis of the Westside game, though I could be mistaken (and I'm too lazy to go back and look).

Is the FC Portland 05 DA team collapsing? So many at BSC practice tonight and three coaches gone.

Otoh, BSC might be holding early tryouts for next season.
Which coaches?
