Not a worry however for the ECNL Country Clubbers because they just buy their daughter a spot on an "elite" team and then tell her to take 1/4 of each year off to play rec soccer with her high school friends because it is fun.

Here is how you know your kid doesn't really want to push themselves to be their best. If they are afraid of pressure, compeition and failure. Great players want to be in those moments, even if it means they fail because they know that is how you get better.

You, on the other hand, have a poser mentality and I question why you would waste your money on ECNL.
I'm the OP and thanks for the assumptions. My kid plays TA by choice. Not interested in ECNL or academy although ODP coaches and ECNL coaches have encouraged her to try out. She is a serious student who likes a balanced life and is happy where she is. But I guess everyone that sees GDA for the disaster it is must be an ECNL poser. Whatever that means.

Maybe removing the pay to play model is one of many factors that contribute to the success of this clubs ability in producing the areas top talent.
That team up North is getting the money from the Crossfire Foundation. The majority of the money is coming from their huge tourney they put on and donations.

What a snob. Nobody cares what you think. Go home and watch reruns of european soccer and drink hot toddys and lament in private.

I've had two kids that were very successful in getting into their first pick colleges and getting scholarship money. They had very successful high school careers and are still close friends with their teammates. Nobody says its great soccer, but it was a great experience and the ties will last for a long time.

If you don't want your kid playing HS, just forbid them from doing it. Nobody is interested in your opinion.

Doesn't matter. Kids want to play. If it offends you do us all a favor and don't go to games

It's not really a tryout fee. Its an appearance fee. TE shows up every year to evaluate the players and then siphons off one she likes. Bring your pens and paper to the event for a signature!

Are they going to drop the tryout fee and instead charge $125 for parking?

It's not a tryout fee. It's a viewing fee. Parents pay $125 to stay and watch. Parents are required to stay and watch.

But where was that money going before? ECNL? Boys DA? Adding GDA, looks like it will split 3 ways, who is going to make up the difference?

That would be a good move.

Sounds like it will be a good time. I play to buy ten t-shirts so I will be in good shape.

Why does it matter to you how they make up the difference or cover the additional costs?

If someone is going to make the argument Crossfire is subsidizing their GDA through the big tournament and foundation, money that helped with boys da and ecnl, it's worth noting. It will also mean less money for ECNL. They aren't offering free ECNL in their older ages which means GDA is the top program.
