She is an exceptional technical coach and one of the few I've seen that brings discipline and intensity to practice. Most coaches let the girls half ass their way through drills at a pace that is a waste of time. RH will not put up with sloppy inaccurate play/practice and neither should you as a parent. In all our years not once have I seen her scream or berate a player. Never seen her get carded or show poor sportsmanship on the field. For years I've seen her tolerate TA cause she loves the game and the club, put up with over assignments because TA wouldn't hire additional coaches or none wanted to work with him. She does need to work on her parent communication, she is not particularly comfortable providing tough feedback to parents nor is she the personality to sugar coat or tell parents what they want to hear. So I think she tends to avoid it and she will need to improve in this area. She probably isn't the best coach for B and C teams either. Expectations likely not the best fit.

There's an honest assessment of RH. The rest of this sounds like emotionally charged ranting from a parent who's kid didn't really have ability or commitment to keep up. It's her show now, so parents ask questions, do your homework and make your own decision.

Here's an honest assessment of you:
Go and take a parenting for Dummies class!

After reading all of the posts I'm shocked to see that THUSC didn't look outside the area for a new DOC.

I'm not saying RH is or will be a terrible DOC but I am saying that there are some top class DOC's in this country that would love to work in this market. There are more clubs around here that need to change DOC's. Just look at toothless Vantucky, they made a move and now have one of if not the top DOC in the area. I think their DOC change has completely changed the face of their club. So many other clubs need to do this. We need fresh ideas from outside the area. This includes ECNL and ODP

I think ultimately, the final straw is those that do come back....I think that there were lots of families and daughters that still DID want to play and still ARE playing, they have just chose to switch clubs. That, in and of itself, is a powerful testimony.

I don't disagree, RH is demanding and does want to pursue excellence but I have also witnessed her yell/scream....I have seen it both at games and during practices. Not pretty. End of the day, THUSC really doesn't conduct 'exit interviews' of those families and players that leave because if they did, they would be amazed/shocked/frustrated as to why those that have decided to leave are in fact leaving. The board really has no idea as to how bad it truly is at some age groups within the club. Either they are blind to the fact that so many have left or they don't care.....or maybe it's both??

What so hilarious with all these observations, concerns & club hopping; it's the new normal in Oregon when your club does nothing of any merit on the field, it's easy to change clubs as you leave nothing of any value for another club with the exact same track record of nothing. Easy come, Easy go.

Please, Blame it on the zealout coaches who are actually just in this cesspool so they can get $$$ and avoid getting a real job. Since as club coaches they are irrelevant also-rans when it comes to development and establishing tradition of excellence measured against other relevant states. The delusional parents subsidize this sickness by paying fees hand over fist to soccer bums who have very little to offer to the kids.

              Sad stuff yet,

              Funny Stuff.

                Exactly right!!

When you have a public that no nothing about this subject, you get really poor coaching. None of the coaches' in OR would get near a single soccer club in Europe.

LOL back at you-No. Not even near 30. My DD laughed when I read your post to her.

Um, ask Cole and Casey about Molly, playing for Bend and ending up at THUSC-TA really worked to get our ODP girls to all switch over to THUSC. TA was doing ODP til switching to USCS in 2009.-Different association but the practice continued-again, ask the McCool clan and others. All true. Glad he's gone and everyone else can move on.

Do you guys not understand sarcasm in Bend. I think the point by the OP was that it was a long time ago since Tom was involved in ODP.

You are talking about 2009 and we are almost done with 2016. 7 years in youth soccer is a really long time.

                        It is actually worse.

The age group that she is talking about is 1992.

That would be her daughter is about 24 or 25 years old and she is still posting on talking soccer. And has a bone to pick with TA.

Other than a DOC I know of only 3 "full time" coaches at my club. Most of them have full time jobs and coach because the enjoy it.

Why don't you judge RH on your own. Just look up her THUSC teams and show up for one of her games. She should have several games at a variety of fields to choose from. Oh wait, it's college season. She can't make her THUSC games.

THUSC did a national search for a DOC and left no stone unturned. Great job Mr. President. I hope you never think of joining a head hunting firm?

Have daughters that have played at multiple clubs and we have done ODP and ECNL. Had the opportunity to have RH Coach one of my kids and was very impressed. Told it like it was with no BS and did the best she could with fair play when she could. She tightened up rotation during state cup and still found time for each kid in every game. IMHO if you have problems with RH it says more about you to me then her. Hope your kids are picking up on the life lessons sports has to teach.
