It's funny how you respond when you find out other parents are doing something you're not.. they're trying to get one up on you.. Secrets Revealed

Nah, they're not. But it sounds like the "recruiting" parents are pulling your leg.

Seriously, why would you care if they were? (handing profiles directly to coaches)

It sounded like they invested thousands of dollars just to get their daughter to these events and I applaud them for going the extra mile to market and educate the coaches about their kid. It takes guts to put your daughter's bio in front of coach with full knowledge her team is getting spanked.

          Very Impressive.

Agreed! It takes massive guts to call yourself an elite program and then enter your team to play on age in the Beaverton Cup. Very Impressive indeed.

We have clubs that register to play in a self proclaimed Elite league,

When they have no body of work to substantiate a claim as 'Elite".

              Funny Stuff.

As opposed to the stellar body of work by thorns academy. 5th in far west regional league is pretty darn good!

Both ECNL clubs would have finished tied for fourth in FWRL and neither would win state cup

OK, not every parent has been handing out their daughter's profiles directly to college staff coaches at events, there is no shame is is this kind of self promotion for the many that do.

It isn't like coaches who attend these events have the CU or FC PDX circled as must see teams among the hundreds of squads playing over a weekend.

These particular parents are all in and they would regret not sharing these bios, as most college staff coaches aren't lining up on the sidelines to watch the teams from the Portland area and don't have their kid on their recruiting radar.

I just wish they (CU & FC PDX parents) would stop trying to sell their club team and these methods to those of us who don't want any part of it, NO means NO!!

                      Thanks

Much larger and more impressive body of work than all of the Timbers clubs combined. Fact.

Yeah, right. Keep believing whatever makes you feel good about your Timbers div 2 team.

Trust me, nobody is asking you to join anything. Cavemen aren't allowed to cross to teh west side of the Willamette.

I don't know where you are hanging out. But I see/hear zero recruiting going on at our ECNL team and soccer in general (my younger child still plays for a TA club so I'm around both sides). Our ECNL team has 18 strong players and I don't feel any concern or sense of urgency that things need to change or improve. We are happy with what we are doing. My suspicion is NO ONE is recruiting your kid and if they are, it was just a "hey we really like this in case you're interested" comment, spoken once, probably just being polite. I do get a lot of questions from TA families about ECNL - cost, benefits, coaches, travel - and I answer those honestly and enthusiastically because, as I said, we are happy with our daughter's decision. And so is she.

So my question is this. If no one is "hounding" your child, and you are happy where you are, why do you feel the need to go on here and write multi paragraph diatribes about the evils of ECNL? Just be happy with your decision. Unless...you're lying.
