High schools don't have feeder programs. They pool from kids that live in their district.

It would reason that Camas and Union High Schools have a higher percentage of upper middle class families who can afford the pay the expensive fees of some club soccer and also pay for extra training session.

Compare the percentage of premier club kids on each high school team. Camas is probably 100%, whereas a school like Hudson Bay is much smaller.

I'm not saying this explains it all but it's likely a big factor.

If this is what you mean by "feeder program", then, yeah, Camas has a good "feeder"

      No.
The top two GSHL 4A teams (Camas & Union) had to play a loser-out bi-district game vs. King County #1 & #2 to qualify for the state tournament.
Union beat Mt. Si and Camas beat Woodenville to advance to the state tournament.
If either Union or Camas lost their game their season would be over.

Darin Degrande was the girls coach. Very good / well respected coach. A definite loss for the program. As stated previously he resigned for personal reasons.
Don't know anything about the boys coach reason?

I think that's what the OP meant by his use of the term "feeder" program.
Camas is a soccer crazy town. Combined with the general affluence and a solid club structure many quality club trained players are developed for the HS program.

            Thanks.

I need a farking user's manual or flowchart or nurse-on-call to figure out all the variations.

Worse than figuring out club soccer leagues and that's saying something

Of course *feeder* wasn't to be taken literally, although that's exactly how the previous variations of clubs out there functioned.

RM has them for 3 months, so matter how well he coaches the talent has already got to be there. No doubt that Camas is loaded with 100% premier kids.

G.O. was/is a great coach. He's not just a good guy, but in a world where so many tell you how good they are, they spout off about crackerjack licenses, he actually understands the game. The relationship of flow, and movement off ball, as well as team and individual tactics. More importantly, he knows how to teach it in practice, which is why it blows me away that's not coaching anymore.

There are still a couple of absolute idiots at W T F C, that have no right to be coaching......and they are near the very top. Time will fix that though, it already repaired 70% of itself.

Crazy that Skyview had done NOTHING for years prior, probably since it was built.......then the coach they "fired" won State, and almost did again the next year.

When do you think Skyview will win another state title..........yeah, maybe 2050.

Lose the coach, that's the ticket, special emphasis on flushing the coach that took you to and delivered a STATE title!

The coach didn't win the state title. The team won it in spite of her. Nearly all of the boys in the varsity program play premier level for their club teams. Her three months of ridiculous and kooky training didn't develop those players one bit. She was along for the ride, nothing more. However, she would tell you, every chance she got how SHE won the state tournament and how SHE was the best coach to ever grace the face of the earth and that CLUB soccer is nothing compared to high school level soccer. Yeah, I'm serious.

If she had anything productive to impart on the boys in the program, she would probably still be coaching there. But I can tell you, from first hand experience, that nearly all of the boys left the meeting with admin with a smile on their faces after being told that she wouldn't be back. And the majority of the parents are none too sad about it either. Let's just say there were multiple reasons for her "leaving", and they weren't just from this year.

Each year can be different. It all depends on how many schools are in the local district. SW Washington doesn't have very many 4A schools, and therefore must have the bi-district playoff games.

Last year the district champ had an automatic state birth and that was with the same number of teams as this year. None of it really makes a ton of sense. 1 district gets 6 teams to state automatically, and its not like they have 6x the number of teams.

This. 100% accurate. She had NO business coaching. Kudos to the school or district administrators to show her the door.

(As one of the "majority" parents, I'm left wondering who is part of the "minority".)

Glorified Select is all it was, you've been lied to all these years.

I'm sure there were lots of "premier" players at SHS before as well, but they did nothing.......so maybe her methods weren't so kooky. All prior playoffs were first round knock outs.

If she didn't win the games, the the PLAYERS lost the league games this year, and for PREMIER players it's an extremely poor showing.

To close, you can't blame the coach for the losses, then out of the other side of your mouth take away the wins.

YOUR TEAM LOST TO HERITAGE 2-0! They have two PREMIER players that I know of, and smoked your team in a loser out.

                            Heritage, yeah Heritage.............

Looking back at the thread, I didn't read that anyone called Skyview's program Premier.
The only reference to Premier was Camas HS. Skyview's program was in no way Premier or even Select calibre. I don't think anyone will argue with you. Except maybe you, with yourself.

If you think she got blamed for the loses or that is why she was shown the door, you are incorrect. The problems were much deeper than that.

It's easy to point to one game and dump all over a bunch of kids. But, please remember that in the same season that they got "smoked" by Heritage (who do have more than two Premier players on their roster, by the way, but EWWWW!) they TIED reigning state champions Snohomish and also beat Camas. So, hmmm...

And, in the end, it is high school soccer. No one will remember any of this stuff in a year or two (well, except for the crazy angry kid-bashing posters on this site). But, hopefully the boys playing for Skyview in the future will have a better experience under some better leadership.
