No need. He'll quit on his own accord when he realizes his Dad's a Pr**k!

              How about goalkeepers?

Many talented goalies can put a FK in the opposing team's penalty box from anywhere in the middle third, yet so many teams opt for short restarts on midfield fouls. The centerback on such plays ought to be in the opposite penalty box, looking to head it in...

sounds like a typical high school game where they bang it into the box all of the time. I would hope a team would restart with a shorter ball 95% of the time and build out of the back.

My thoughts were more towards higher levels of soccer, where it is presumed that the players know how to play, and are playing strictly to win. In youth leagues, particularly pre-HS, doing this would be far less appropriate.

One all-too-common attribute of adult soccer, unfortunately, is the defense that uses cynical fouls (generally not card-worthy) to break up attacks out of the back, especially quick counters. Having a GK or CB with a powerful foot delivering balls into (or near) the box is one way to punish teams that engage in this tactic.

Kids who are still learning the game should learn it on the ground before learning it in the air.
