Is it better to play for a strong talented team with zero development and Philosophy only about winning? Or for a weak team with good coach who will teach with his feet.

Not sure what you meant by playing 1987 soccer? Outdated philosophy? DH sounds like a decent option or is playing for DW a better option?

FC Portland has try outs too. Has a formal compliant been filed with OYSA. They should be banned for next year.

Find a Happy medium. If you pass the ball and your players cannot get it back to you, you are going to hate the team.

And there is a reason these coaches have been relegated to Salmon Creek.

Being a part of a strong pool of players is way more important. It's the practice that matters, not the games. Do you want your son to be a part of a weak group during two practices a week or a strong group for three practices a week?

FCPDX's tryouts are in line with OYSA rules.
FCSC's tryouts are out of line. OYSA needs to put a stop to this type of stuff.

OYSA doesn't make the rules. Timbers do.

Who cares who makes the rules. FCSC is still breaking them. I guess they will be playing in the PSPL now

Who really cares about FCSC, they pose no threat to any club or team for that matter, except maybe 3rd tier teams

Agreed. They have to be hanging by a thread. It's hard to survive with one team and one coach in a club. If they conceded to the fact that they are a recreational club then this wouldn't even be a big deal but they keep coming across the river trying to compete with us.

Where do you recommend? Surely it can't be Vantucky as their practices don't matter and winning games means everything. Their a machine that just spins in circles and rapes your wallet. Have three daughters that play.

FC Portland is doing this to gain a competitive advantage. They will be able to offer roster spots before other teams even have try outs. That is unfair and in violation of OYSA rules.

I think the OP was talking about W-T-F-C. I have three kids there also. You obviously don't have any kids in the club. The club has taken a 180 degree turn in a little over a year. They do like to win, who doesn't, but they do not base their success by pushing wins. The club implements a strict curriculum that my kids have seen the benefits of. I don't think anyone will see the clubs true changes for another 3-5 years. There is no club in the area that runs a true academy like W-T-F-C. Most of your clubs have coaches that go on their own teaching differently with no guest playing between teams or any collaboration between coaches. For example at FCSC or Pacific, as a parent you are paying for a player card and that is it, nothing else. If all you want is a player card then those clubs are for you.

WashT is FAR from a true academy format. They still select distinct teams at tryouts and those teams don't train together 100% of the time. Also, there is no one in charge of all the teams in an age group, determining the training and rostering for the entire age group. WashT may be a bit better than they were right after the merger with WSA (really when they got taken over by WSA), but they are a far cry from being a top developmental club.

                                You are either:

                                1) Truly misinformed or
                                2) purposely spewing misinformation

If it's #1: get informed on what is really happening.
                                If it's #2: just stop.
