Completely disagree with the change to birth year and HATE that it is breaking up my kids' teams. One of mine will have to move up to a worse team & one will get to stay on their team with the youngers and suddenly benefit from now being one of the oldest. Even she doesn't want her team broken up, even though it benefits her. That said, THE FLOOD IS COMING! It is a done deal. Many teams in CA have already switched to birth year. No petition & no amount of crying or whining or even legitimate arguments against it are going to change the fact that the flood is coming. So, best to start preparing for the flood and make the switch as easy as possible. Pull the band aid off and move forward for best results.

Sounds like it is high time for her to grow up anyway. I doubt that being one of the oldest will do much good for her.

Yes! When you travel internationally to play soccer you will be no the same dating convention that they are so there will be less confusion.

That's really it, but that will be a huge benefit to 100 or so kids every year.

It's really that simple. Raise fees to compensate for the losses on the girls side. Very little losses on the boys side so you can keep their fees lower.

Yeah. Any kid that wants to play with friends or school mates are weak and soft. It is indicative of poor parenting. You should force them to leave all their friends every 12-18 months and make new ones.

If your kid wants to play soccer to have fun, it is a reflection of poor parenting skills. You are at fault.

They should realize that they are part of something bigger. The USMNT needs this change.

The youth national teams will have the RAE favoring slightly older players which will make them a tiny bit more competitive. In addition, by having the RAE favor the same set of older kids from U4 through their national team years instead of just gaining that advantage at U12/U13 as it is currently, in theory those slightly older kids might be a hair better as a result.

In short, USSF have gone all-in with the January through March kids and don't care how much damage and chaos they cause in that process. And in fact it has very negative effects upon late year kids. Anyone born after August should just quit the sport now and pick something else to play because the USSF not only doesn't want you but are actively working against you.

And before the nuts start screaming about the RAE, that's not my point. My point is the late year kids getting screwed in their 8th grade year and senior year. If this was just an RAE switch with no other consequences you wouldn't hear me complaining at all.

Not true. Since the US teams will still be formed using August to July the birth year teams will still be off from the rest of the world for 6 months out of the year. All we are changing is making it be off in the fall instead of being off in the spring.

No benefits for girls. This change will benefit the top .001% of boys.

Girls will see a decline in census over time as the percentages play out and less kids are playing with classmates. That is ok though.

You do know that Y2K ended up not being that big a deal because millions of programmers were dedicated to fixing the problems and hundreds of billions of dollars were spent ahead of time to minimize the damage, right?
