Err umm, you don't want to start throwing stones there Sparky or I will remind you that a number of those Onyx girls, you know, from the historically great and best of all time Oregon team are going to Portland State, known for thug soccer that lacks any type of skill what so ever. And there are a few from other teams going to Grand Canyon. You might want to look that one up to see if it's a real University. And there are one or two going to some D3 schools. I looked up the roster of one and found that they have 38 players on their roster. In D3. So Sparky, ECNL isn't exactly lighting the world on fire here in Portland. Compare the ECNL list for Portland to ECNL for Seattle - it's a really sad, sad comparison.

Exactly, but don't tell the ECNL folks that, they think the patch means everything. So funny that so many of them, especially the ones posting on here, are on the outside of offers looking in. Praying that their little girl gets on the list someday. I know the U16s are really starting to sweat bullets. The U15s are also wondering why they are seeing U15s from other ECNL clubs getting offers and they are not even getting responses to their emails.

What is sad is how few TA girls are playing at the next level. Cheers to a couple going Pac 12, but most aren't going anywhere or to Cal Baptist

Community college is better than PSU or Cal Baptist. That is not sarcasm either. I'd rather my kid play soccer and get free education at Clark and transfer to a real school, than go to PSU. I want them to get a good job, after all.

So how come they left their TA clubs? Wasn't because the clubs were doing anything for them.

Why did your wife leave you? Wasn't because you were doing anything for her.

Most of them left because, like too many Americans often do in other areas, they and their parents thought there was some silver bullet with the ECNL that would magically turn them into true elite level players. They were oversold on a product by clubs who have under delivered.

Oh, I know, the next thing you will point to are the small group of players who have committed to colleges. But, most of those same opportunities existed without the ECNL. It is not like all of a sudden a bunch of Oregon girls are committing to top 10 schools across the country. They are, for the most part, committing to schools that NW based players have committed to in previous years before the ECNL showed up to steal from them.

The girls DA announcement was the best thing to happen to Oregon ECNL. Those teams are embarrassing compared to the league they play in and those clubs are robbing their families blind by the product they are putting out. Put that thing out of its misery and save the families the $40k they would have spent to have their daughters on bottom feeding teams.

You do realize that the costs are increased only minimally for the increased training. The rest of the cost is for traveling. The DA, especially in PDX, will be similar. ECNL is not 40k either. Finally, by top ten schools, I hope you are referring to academics.

You realize that the USSDA isn't coming to Oregon, right?

And even if it does, travel will still cost the parents and GDAP also won't miraculously get OR girls recruited to top soccer college soccer teams. Whatever system comes in, the Oregon player pools remain basically the same and Oregon girls will continue to mostly commit to local lower level schools and a smattering of others. What ECNL may have done is open up some doors for Oregon girls to go to some lower soccer level schools out of state. Most that GDAP would do is exactly the same. OR is still only going to produce a national team player once every couple of decades. Girls aren't suddenly recruited by UCLA now that ECNL is here, nor will GDAP make that happen. Doesn't mean OR girls shouldn't do whatever they can or want soccer wise. Choice is good. More choices is better.

What does USDDA have to do with the putrid ECNL results? Nothing. ECNL Oregon - DOA.

Losing games because you're challenging yourself is a bad idea? No wonder the TA clubs never put their teams in leagues that challenge them...

0-20 in a weekend isn't good for anyone.

Good point, maybe they should only play in OYSA, do poorly in FWRL and then play in the silver division down in Vegas.
