So funny to see the ecnl crowd get so defensive all the time. It's so fun to spin them up.

So it's true. This is pretty big news.

They want 14 teams to complete a 26 game season so there is room for 6 more. FCPDX and Crossfire Oregon have not decided yet. It's a big drain on club fees when you can only charge $500. They are looking for 4 more clubs but said that they WILL NOT just add clubs to add clubs like ECNL did. Rumor has it Abby Wambach is interested in coaching within the Thorns Academy

        Thorns Academy
        Sounders
        WhiteCaps
        Crossfire United (WA)
        Washington Premier
        Real Salt Lake
        San Jose Earthquakes
        LA Galaxy
        Surf Academy
        Mustang
This is why this is ridiculous. Who funds Crossfire (WA) and Washington Premier? These clubs arent just going to pay all the travel expenses for over 100 players and in a city like Seattle that has the Sounders they Seattle professional teams arenet funding this for 3 clubs.

I spoke to a board member for Crossfire (WA) and he sated this isnt happening

They have USSDA teams for boys. How's that funded?

Look back through the T-S Archives

Nearly a year ago all Oregonians were educated about what was happening with girls/women's infrastructure......Now that the train is on the track, the most ignorant and uneducated are saying it's ridiculous and just a myth

Great read. No where in the article did it state there would be a US Development Academy for the girls, but it did state "How all parties come together on these plans could be one of the most interesting spaces to watch. Gulati said U.S. Soccer has a good relationship with Elite Clubs National League (ECNL), the highest level of girls youth soccer in the U.S. and a model that loosely replicates the boys’ U.S. Soccer Development Academy model."

So when the strongest party US Soccer comes into the picture it will be interesting.

This is what will be coming next. This is exactly what Merrit Paulson was talking about for boys and girls. Building a HIgh School

Not so sure about that. I think there's a rec club over there that is better.

Many ECNL players & TA players who would've joined ECNL, will join a Girls DA if it's only 500$ and you get to fly to play great teams. Oregon CA has enough top players to keep ECNL going but Oregon doesn't.

Unless the Girls DA doesn't allow players to also play HS like they don't for the boys. More girls might opt out then.
Thorns Academy was supposed to be $500 too. What happened to that? Crappy players, crappy league, crappy coaching, and it still costs $5000+

Someone here has already note that ECNL and USSDA have 2 entirely different goals. One is looking to pick the best players for USWNT and one is looking to Showcase girls for college.

I simply do not see how the allure of ECNL simply vanishes for the players or the college coaches. Lets face it. Some kids are not playing soccer at the WNt level and never will. But a shot load are playing for college level and the ECNL is covering that market like a wet blanket.

They know their team hasn't done shinola. That CFC team that you were putting down has done much more out of state than many of the FC or CU teams have done. Pretty funny that people think that the ECNL patch suddenly makes your team good. All it means is that you are getting beaten up regularly by out of state ECNL teams. Have any of the local ECNL teams won yet this year?
What has CFC G01 won outside the state of Oregon? Didn't think so. They can't even beat younger teams in FWRL.

If "many" is a "couple" then OK. ET won state cup because Nemesis wasn't allowed to play all those years. And then FCP wasn't there for U14. If ET was so good, why don't they exist any longer? Because the girls knew, deep down, that they were just a bunch of thugs booting the ball long and chasing it.

Now all of those thugs are at FCPDX and CU banging the ball all over the place playing in the highest level league with the same OPL level coaches....all for $10k
