I thought someone was making up something. Too bad. Does anyone know where all these players who quit are going?

That I can agree with. However, the chances of finding any uncommitted 2016 player at this stage who will make a difference is extraordinarily rare. More luck than anything. I just can't see spending your recruiting time and $$ that way.

Yes it would be lucky. At this point whoever came in now would be a preferred walk-on and I would take a chance on:

                1) someone who is track fast
                2) Someone who is really athletic but might not have refined soccer skills yet.
                3) someone who dropped off the radar after suffering a major injury.

OMG that is ridiculous. "Can't teach fast" blah blah blah. Honestly I think speed is largely overrated in soccer. Quickness yes, but track speed no. If the game is played correctly, most play is 20 yard bursts with supreme technical ability. Anyone who would recruit "track fast" without "refined soccer skills" at the collegiate level is going to be looking for work. You think coaches have the time to be teaching technical ability 101 to track stars? Get real.

The other ridiculous thing is to assume that it doesn't already exist at U of O. People are clueless and always think they know everything about everything on this board.

Track fast w/at least decent soccer skills! Doesn't matter how skilled a player is if they aren't fast enough to get to the ball.

They had a forward who was very fast and shot the ball close to 100+ times or more in some years but could only manage about 4-6 goals a year. Not very good odds

Get to it? Crazy thought. Let's play to feet or direct space. No need to punt and run. This isn't HS ball. Americans need to learn to play more soccer with the ball at their feet. People talk about forwards as wide receivers in football. They need to "go get it." How about we force our players to make good passes and stop relying on speed to make up for a lack of skill. Euros use the target forward with wings for speed. Americans just put the fastest girl up top. A great soccer team obviously needs some pacey players but there is more than enough room on the pitch for the player with average speed but high soccer iq.

What is your opinion of great soccer skills with below average speed? I think some people get hung up on speed because the PAC 12 is a fast paced league. A slow skilled player with an excellent first touch can perform very well until the other team neutralizes the threat.?

Not when the other team is full of players that have both speed & soccer iQ/skills. One of the main reasons Oregon teams can't compete vs Calif teams. We are simply too slow in comparison. Of course they are skilled too. To be a top player/team you need BOTH skill & speed. Simply can't get by with just one or the other at top levels.

Are you talking about U of O? The majority of the girls are from California. Or perhaps you are trying to hijack this thread into a discussion about ECNL and $10K or how bad everything in Oregon sucks? Beyond annoying.
