UP - FC Portland carrot may be gone soon.
They just need to do it on the Girl's side too

This storied program is leaking nostalgia, not optimism, a disheartening turn."
What do they need to do to fix the direction?

There is a large showing of colleges from all levels. Your not going to see colleges from east coast or mid country coming to a portland area tournament. But the colleges listed are all good options for players.
My daughter is now in college & the recruitung process is less difficult than alot want to think. Every girl on her team who wanted to play in college was able to get recruited.
I'm not a GS or FC lover but it is a good showing of west coast schools.

I stand by what i said about the recruiting process though. Its really much less difficult than most think. Get your player on a good team that travels to out of state to big competitions (vegas, ecnl, surf & etc.) & get them onto the campus of the schools they are interested in & at their camps. Then your player has to do some phone calls & emails & follow ups with the coach. Doesnt hurt to have a club coach help connect with the college coaches. It doesnt need to be your teams current coach either. It can be a coach you know & trust. But they do need to know what you are like as a player so when asked they can answer.

More College Coaches at the Eastside Timbers College Showcase
Wow! I have attended both showcases and have to say that Eastside Timbers have done a better job of attracting college coaches to games than FC
