So if you take the 60 and divide by 4, it's 15 per year. There are probably a few 5th year players, so probably 13 per year. Take away a few for TA players (sorry ECNL biggots, but a few TA players will always go to top programs) and you have maybe 11-12. There are 18 ECNL travel players per team, so 36 and each team takes 22 to 28 players. So for those of you toward the end of the bench, you should probably just temper any dreams you have after making that ECNL roster, it's likely not going to work out at a top program. And even for those of you spending $10K a year as one of the top 18, the odds are low. So instead of dreaming about Loyola Marymount, you should be dreaming about Western Oregon, or maybe even Lewis and Clark.

If you take 60 and divide it by 20 you get 3. Probably 2 per year. Spending $10,000 per year or $800 per month for those odds you have a great chance of getting some really cool stuff.

How can TA players go to top colleges when TA clubs don't even have HS girls teams?

I know it's fun to ignore facts with quips, but they are going to take a spot or two each year. I have a strong suspicion that you and your dd are in for a big let down when the colleges don't even give her a sniff.

I don't understand your math? Most kids don't go to college for 20 years.

How about Lauren Hansen (U of P grad/player) and former assoc. coach at Oregon to take over for either Oregon or Portland. She took a SJSU (a team devoid of tremendous talent) to the NCAA tournament, which is saying a lot. And finished 8-3 in the Mountain West Division. I am sure she would like to return.

                        Yes if you include travel.

Guys! ECNL is only $60,000 per year if you include parents traveling to watch the games! Quit exaggerating!

UofP sounds like it is really struggling.

No, it's ECNL that is really struggling. ECNL in Portland that is.
