    Gosh you're clever.
Let's see. The girls who did it had a good experience. The coaching is terrific. They played in enough tournaments to get seen. The season played out as represented.
This seems to be a "you" problem not a Thorns problem.

Exactly. The people who should be commenting about the quality and success of it are the parents of the girls who did it. Someone from the outside commenting about it just shows extreme jealousy.

At least the Timbers got a little smarter this year and aren't promising that the Academy will amount to anything.

Too bad the Oregon ECNL clubs haven't followed suit. They are still overpromising.

Using that analogy one could only assume that Oregon ECNL clubs have also given up on the idea of elite...unless you don't count results.

Results, Shmezults. We don't care about results. We are "elite" because it says so on our jerseys.
ECNL was truly elite when it had about 25 truly top clubs. It now is a watered down version of its original intent.

You can't be elite with a goal differential of -40 to -75. Look in the some of the ECNL standings. It's so bad!

Maybe they can enter the Vegas Cup in the Silver Division and pad their wins and GD.

Many of the teams on the bottom of the ECNL standings have not won a single game or maybe pulled a single win.

The funny thing is, if you go to the Mass chat board or Florida chat board there are similar discussion about the disparity of teams. There are some terrible clubs out there with teams that are just awful. And it's not one or two, it's a large number. At least 25% of the ECNL clubs are no better than average local clubs. The sad thing is, CU is right on the boarderline of these clubs. The only thing that saved them this year is that Boise and Utah are just as bad, so CU was able to garner a few wins.

While I understand ECNL's rationale for doing so, having two Oregon teams is silly. The state can't support two truly elite clubs. One is going to falter badly.

But if they played in OYSA they would be league champs. ECNL is a whole different level that you TA lemming types just can't comprehend.

So if, for the good of youth soccer in Oregon, there should only be 1 elite club, then why are the Timbers polluting the waters even more with their pathetic attempt at elite mediocrity known as the Thorns Academy?
