Better to get the facts. OPL ceased operation and let their member clubs decide what league to join in the future. Our DOC has informed us we are re-joining the OYSA.

What the heck this has to do with Timbers or the OPL is really irrelevant as the OYSA is again the competitive home for all of Oregon and SW Washington soccer players.

Congrats on the Victory OYSA and the KIDS!

Your DOC was lying than... Because unless he was from one of the TA clubs from outside the Portland area ALL the other TA clubs were founding members of the OPL.

Your DOC was lying than... Because unless he was from one of the TA clubs from outside the Portland area ALL the other TA clubs were founding members of the OPL.

Unlike the move made to join the ECNL by our club. They first asked for our feedback about leaving the OPL league and joining the OYSA, just this simple request for feedback made the move something we could support given the positive impact it has on our family, friends and teammates. Very excited and appreciate the club at least involving us in the decision making process. It's the first great step to bringing our club whole again.

The word "Gullible" comes to mind.

Sepp Atencio had just a little more time than his FIFA counterpart. Once they appointed him President of OPL, you knew the OPL teams would start running.

Now everyone has to join another poorly ran organization. I'll give it three years then we will be starting the OSL once everyone gets fed up of the Timbers (Oregon super league 2018)

They run a very short (6 game) NPL in southern California for the purpose of qualifying teams for NPL Finals. Why not do the same here?

The Southern California teams are a better standard than our Oregon youth teams, this much is true. Playing in a league that qualifies for your USYS state cup is a requirement for all teams, that's why Washington team must do this.

Most Oregon OPL teams have opted out of the NPL finals each summer due to high cost and very little chance of competiting. If an Oregon club team wants to make a decision to go to this event it's not unlike signing up for an out of state tournament, if playing in a small Oregon jamboree gets them invite, why not? Especially if they aren't relevant in the USYS state cup or USYS regionals this sounds like a good option.

Kinda like the President's cup Regionals or Kohl's Cup.

Guaranteed there isn't one OYSA state cup champ that could win NPL Finals or US Club Nationals this year. Not one.

Teams compete in competitions all the time that they don't realistically imagine they'll win. If you don't ever leave the bubble then you don't know what you really need to do to step up a level.

That will make for some interesting placement meetings in early August. It's in everyone's best interests to put the best teams in the top division, regardless of where they played last year. There is enough information out there for the U11-U14 ages to make these decisions easily enough.
