Soccer is all girls once you get to High School in the US. This includes the High School boy's teams.
Ever wonder why girls get scholarships at all? Title 9. Do some research. Othwrwise there would be 25 mens soccer scholarships to ZERO for girls. Be thankful rather than a d bag.

        You're not really following...

Volleyball is all non-existent after high school. (same for softball) And certainly there is no pro circuit, like with soccer.

Track and Swimming are not team sports, so you don't get the craziness that you do with soccer.

SO...you have ALL the craziness of girls sports parents concentrated in a SINGLE place: soccer. Half these idiots dream that their little girls will make it to college on a soccer scholarship. Maybe some are so out there that they think their kid is the next Hope Solo.

It's the parents who think their dd is the next Alex Morgan (that's pretty much any forward's parents on a U14 & below premier team-or at least half of them). Over the years, the parents of goalies have been fairly sane. Maybe because their isn't much tough competition for female goalies. It's not pretty when these parents finally realize Oregon produces maybe one national team player every 10-20 years. Maybe.

The point was not about men's soccer vs. girl's soccer. It is about where the top male athletes go. There are 85 scholarships allowed for football. If there were more allowed, there would be more football scholarships.

Do you ever go to a UofP men's soccer game and a women's soccer game? There are a lot more people watching the women's game.

Soccer in the US on the boy's side is for the boy's who can't play the traditional sports and their dads won't let them do dance.

Clearly you think this is funny…You keep repeating it over and over, but all it does is reveal you being stuck 20-30 years in the past. Do an analysis of which is more athletic a Soccer player or a football player, the soccer player will win hands down. Basketball…no contest…Soccer players are some of the best all around athletes.

Apparently your image of athlete is a pumped up on steroids muscle bound oaf. That is not today's athlete.

There are a lot of dancers who play soccer, and a lot of soccer players who use dance as a way to train…

I don't think that is what you are trying to say…and if you don't have the courage to actually spit it out then clearly you are the one with issues.

holy crap you are so messed up dude.

NO ONE and I mean NO ONE goes to girls soccer games. That is just flat out stupid. Maybe UP is more than the norm but that is because Portlanders are freaks. That is also why the Thorns are the only team that draws fans in the U.S. Of course the tickets are practically free, but somehow that still draws a few thousand. I would never go because I would fall asleep. I do go to Timbers games and enjoy it. The Timbers sell tickets now for an average of $35 per ticket, sellout every game, and have a waiting list of 10,000.... and that is with a losing team. Do you see a difference yet? Thorns games are practically free, draw a few thousand... and that is 10 fold what the rest of the U.S. womens teams draw. Ever wonder why the Timbers Academy pays for boys to fly all over the country? Why do they not do this for girls? because no one cares and the money does not follow girls. Nothing is different about college soccer. More people care about the men. You are fortunate that Football still dominates because that is what made Title 9 create opportunities for girls across the other sports. I have a DD too and hope she takes advantage of it too. But I am not ridiculous. The real money follows the men. That's just life.

If "real money" is your compass then you should take a look at the amount of money that go into the "real men" sports in the US.

You seem to know very little about soccer dynamics. The Timber's Academy is mandated by the MLS that is why they fly all over the country for free. Have you ever seen the roster of the Timber's Academy? Over 50% Hispanic. There are no Hispanic boys in my younger daughter's ballet class. Only a few caucasian boys who quit soccer last season.

As you say, Portlanders are freaks and that attributes to the popularity of women's soccer over men's soccer at UofP. That also applies to the MLS. The popularity of the Timbers and MLS does not necessarily apply across the rest of the country. The league is still burning cash and it is very fortunate for them that they did not go on strike.

I am not defending women's soccer because it is pretty boring. I am just saying by HS most of your "athletes" with the exception of your son are going to other sports. People care about LOI for football and basketball. Do you see anyone paying attention to where the top soccer players are going?

My son plays HS basketball and HS soccer. OMG how are you going to reconcile that one?

And hey dummy, how do you reconcile this:

"MLS has experienced enormous growth in its second decade, doubling the number of teams to 20, expanding to six states and three Canadian provinces and moving into 11 new soccer-specific stadiums. Last season, average attendance topped 19,000 for the first time.

The financial growth has been more dramatic. When Chivas USA joined the league in 2004, it paid a $10-million franchise fee. When the team was disbanded last fall, MLS sold the abandoned rights to a second Southern California team for $110 million."

The league's new TV deal, signed last spring, is nearly five times richer than the old one, while Forbes Mexico ranks three MLS clubs — the New York Red Bulls, Sporting Kansas City and the Galaxy — among the nine most valuable soccer teams in the Americas."

The growth of soccer in USA is big... and getting bigger. I will grant you, it is truly in it's infancy and just scratching the surface.

But I will quote facts. You quote out your as$ some more. BTW, your Hispanic comment is not only racist it is another load of crap that you pulled out of your *****.
