The only alternative sport to Soccer in the Netherlands is riding a bicycle.
If your country only fields professional sports teams in Soccer, guess what you better be good at it. No competition for athletes.

But here in the Grand ole USA.

Soccer is way down the food chain as far as a sport of choice of Sport for both Boys & Girls.

TV ratings for fishing with Dick Butkus have more people watching, than the MLS game of the week.

More people attend 1 thorns game than attend all the all other WPSL league games combined.

Why are we the best in the world at American Football? same reason the netherlands is so good at soccer, it's the sport of choice for an entire nation.

Now little old portland, because it only has one pro sports team the trailblazers and the bygone days of historic 30K+ crowds for the NASL timbers of the late 70's reborn in the pathetic standard of play offered by the MLS, is SoccerCity USA!!

Without a major sports market team (MLB, NHL or NFL) we should be the city that gets to have elite kids soccer teams based just on our weirdness and alternative views.

    How is that going?

0 championships for Girls at National or Regional level in modern history of youth soccer.

By all means we deserve the right to showcase our superior opinions vs our superior soccer.

The problem with Oregon soccer are attack dogs like you who want to hold back soccer to your clubs level which is status quo. Both the Thorns and ECNL are positive changes for girls soccer. It moves the bar which winds status quo people into knots like WST and the ilk. This is why a few coaches like yourself spend so much time on talking soccer attacking what you don't have.
You dolt, who do you think pushed the Thorns to start the academy? It was WST. Duh.

WST was only motivated to counter the ECNL. They still have no commitment to girls soccer.

Regardless. The information was just offered up to counter the statement that WST would be attacking the Thorns. Just goes to show you how much misinformation and how much lying goes on TS.

That's not what I was saying. WST is attacking ECNL for two reasons. First is because they are on the sidelines with no chance of getting in. Second is they have no real interest in girls soccer. The Thorns academy was a response to the ECNL.

WST spends a lot of time spreading misinformation about the ECNL to their teams and players and on talking soccer.

              Attacking Logic & Common Sense

If the ECNL is in theory a league for Regionally and Nationally competitive Girls club teams.

Why would Oregon field 2 teams at u14, u15, u16, u17 & u18. Regardless of club distinction. In addition why would the mighty Thorn also field more teams to compete regionally /nationally.

Did we change our borders and become the entire west coast of stretching from Canada to Mexico? In that case field 3 girls teams to compete at a regional/level.

So the bigger question that emerges is with this over representation others have called watered down---is the ECNL really not that competitive? and will let you enter teams for giggles and dollars?

None of this makes any sense.

Yes, you don't make any sense. ECNL is comprised of 77 of the best clubs in the nation. Period.

Sadly, Oregon is not considered part of the 'NATION'.

28 wins out of 82 games to date...let's continue to field 2 teams to prove we belong.

Hardly. Every time you post, you just make yourself look more and more dumb.

That description actually fits the CU U16 parents. Speaking of whom, are they finally going to win a game this weekend? Funny how that team is spinning out of control at the moment. The jealousy amongst the parents and players is killing them.
