    ECNL Questions

I don't want a crazy inflammatory debate. I'm just looking at some options for my daughter and have some questions about Fc Portland's program.

    A. It says you play league and 3 tournaments. Is that right? Or, is there more?

    B. What do the trips cost on average? I'm guessing $900 for a trip to SoCal is an average cost. Is that a good rough estimate?

    C. If I can see correctly from the schedule, there are 3 away tournaments or "national events" and 3 trips for league. 6 trips total? Not counting Seattle as a trip.

    D. How many games are played during the year? Is the league just 12 games? And just the 3 National Events?

Please ignore this if you want to be sarcastic or mean. I just want a few real answers.

No offense, but you would get better information asking a homeless kid in pioneer square. This is the WORST place for info. Call the club.

Just remember that the costs are lot more than quoted if you want to travel to watch your daughter play.

FC has a form that answers a lot of these questions. Ask one of their coaches

Duh. It's always more expensive if you want to travel to see your kid play. Our team went to regionals last year in Phoenix. It cost the parents more who went down to watch. It wasn't bad for the girls who went down & shared rooms with their teammates. They had a blast staying in a room with 3 of their teammates.

Actually you'd be better off staying far away. FC or nothing. Don't waste your time with CU.

What regionals were in Phoenix last year?

As to the cost it's abou $550 to $750 for two game trips and add another $100 to $200 for showcases as there is an extra day and they are further away. There is no doubt it's expensive. You don't have to go to all of the away games but everyone wants to go to the Seattle games and play in the home games and showcases. And there are no guarantees for playing time. Some coaches play everyone at least some while others play players based upon a meritocracy. If your dd isn't a top player playing time might be difficult to come by depending upon the coach and the opponents.

I checked the website. There isn't much information on there. Do we have any real parents or coaches on here that can answer these?

Of course, travelling with your child costs more. That's true for any club.

Thanks for the answer. Playing time has to be earned on any team at this level. With three showcases (4 games each?) and 12 league games, it sounds like about 24 games per year. Does that sound correct?

Depending in the year estimates are $7000 up to $9,000 per year.

Parent costs are not part of the discussion.

Playing time sometimes depends on who can afford to go.

                              It depends. Which age group?
