I do have a couple of very good friends, that I trust implicitly, and I would tell you that this is what was told to me. Take it as you will.
1). Their daughter played for CU ECNL, as a U-14 this year.
2). They (parents) only went to 1 away tournament. They DID NOT travel for the league games. They sent the daughter with a chaperone (air ride) and then I think they put 3 girls and 1 adult same sex (mother) per each room. You add that up for trips to Salt Lake and Boise and the Bay Area and let's say $250-$350 for air fare, split the cost of a $125/night Courtyard Marriott by 4 for 3 nights and then add in food---it comes out to be about $500 to $600 per league weekend, if you are traveling via air. More expensive for trips to Dallas, Phoenix and San Diego.
3). I have another buy that has a daughter that plays for FC---they do it pretty much the same way----if your daughter is NOT traveling, they send her via a chaperone (for the air) and they put the girls in a room of 3 girls per 1 adult. Add in food/misc and he said it was fairly similar---$500-$700 per away trip (again, depending on the misc and the food costs)--he said FC has a 'travel coordinator' that is very good to work with. You just put cash/funds into your daughter's account and they show you the final result/expenses after each trip or tournament.
Either way--make sure you do your homework, ask your questions and make sure you have a pretty good idea. I would say that the rough figures that are thrown around of $5000-$7500 per year, all in (without parent travel) are probably fairly accurate and true.
Some will bash you and say it's more. Some will bash you and say it's less. Count on $5000 to $7500 and you probably will be in the ball park.

We are just under 5,000 but I have to point out that including food and misc. is kind of silly. If my dd is home on the weekend she is certainly eating and doing misc. activities.

Travel portion is right around $5,000. Fees to club are $2000. Kit was a couple hundred. So estimating $7500 is pretty fair. Maybe a bit more.

Keep in mind it is competitive soccer. If your dd is on the bubble for making a roster you may not have to pay for some trips because she wont get selected for that travel roster. You don't pay for those. If you dd is the next Alex Morgan, then budget for all events.
