the OPL makes money because they administer the OPL League. OPL made $675,000 over 4 years off of the backs of the families that played in the Culdesac League.
you'd make a good president. Whenever claims start getting too close to the truth, DEFLECT! DEFLECT! DISTRACT!

You should know that it's the same people who started the OPL who also pulled people back to OYSA. They are simply manipulating soccer for their own profit. People like Cony and Jon from WST and Gavin from the Timbers. Call the OPL why you want but it is the same people running OYSA that created and ran the OPL.

Exactly. Every time something changes there is a chance to make money. So if you need money, stir things up and make some changes. That's exactly what the Timbers did. They don't care if it's better or worse for youth soccer, it's all about generating revenue.

It's obvious they didn't and don't care if it's better or worse.

Since you are so informed... you do realize there is no MLS Patch on their uniforms.... They are simply adidas uniforms with club and alliance patches attached to them. They don't come pre-made with the alliance patches. I guess adidas makes money just like Nike does when parents buy uniforms.

The one thing that can be said... is at least the money that is going to OYSA is being spent locally... as opposed to the money being paid to US Club Soccer which ends up somewhere East and with no local benefit.

              THPRD out of district fee

What is the deal with the THPRD out of district fee. It looks like it is $380 a year which significantly jacks up the cost of participation at WestSide if you live in Portland.

The coach told me that they are going to be the official academy for the Timbers. I went to their website and don't see anything about them being the official academy. They are part of the Timbers alliance but he said they were more than that. Was this coach exaggerating or is WST the official academy for the Timbers?
Which coach did you talk to? You can just put his initials if you want. There is a coach there that tends to exaggerate. Also if you know any older boys that have played for WST ask the parents about the coach. I think the coach at this age makes all the difference! FC Portland is a good spot too. I would consider them to be better for development.

It costs more to rent the fields if too many players are out of district so they charge you for it.

So WST coaches are basically lying to recruit players. They will say anything.....

There is a big field shortage, and people that pay taxes to Beaverton, THPRD and BSD are not too happy to have their fields taken away from the outside, so THPRD finally made some rules. There is a really old thread on here if you want to look, it is interesting.
