the OPL makes money because they administer the OPL League. OPL made $675,000 over 4 years off of the backs of the families that played in the Culdesac League.

to be clear

The one thing that can be said... is at least the money that is going to OYSA is being spent locally... as opposed to the money being paid to US Club Soccer which ends up somewhere East and with no local benefit.

THPRD out of district fee
What is the deal with the THPRD out of district fee. It looks like it is $380 a year which significantly jacks up the cost of participation at WestSide if you live in Portland.

He will be playing U10 this year and we have been trying to decide which club would be best for our son so we talked to a coach after practice. We have narrowed it down to FC Portland and WST. The coach told me that they are going to be the official academy for the Timbers. I went to their website and don't see anything about them being the official academy. They are part of the Timbers alliance but he said they were more than that. Was this coach exaggerating or is WST the official academy for the Timbers?

Also if you know any older boys that have played for WST ask the parents about the coach. I think the coach at this age makes all the difference! FC Portland is a good spot too. I would consider them to be better for development.
