So you don't think training fees would be higher if fewer players came out and played on the teams? Yes, it's pretty obvious the ones who truly benefit and those who don't.

No its not obvious. The clubs that were granted ECNL consistently have had good girls programs. Enough to field reserve teams except for U18. I am still sticking with my statement that you have no idea who benefits or doesn't in youth soccer. Benefits for reserve players may be commitment to a sport, staying fit and playing the game they obviously love for continuing to play club in the HS years.

Those that haven't ended up going to college to play soccer are ones that wouldn't have benefitted. I know that those "consistently good girls" programs have not always sent their entire team on to college and that is likely to not change. Many parents think that their daughters are much better than they really are. ECNL is going to magnify that.

Honestly I was able to get out for the first time and watch a couple of the local ECNL teams play each other recently. Besides a "referee" issue where a couple teams did not even get to play what I saw was impressive by some but not every player and what I think it boils down too is that we approach soccer difference in this country, we price some really good players out from families the can barely afford a recreational program. If we are ever going to truly be a soccer nation we need to find away to turn this upside down and reach all kids. MLS is a business, has no interest in seeing our national teams succeed or working to help costs in the youth ranks either. Just backwards really.

OYSA doesn't have $600K in slush funds that they milked from their members over the years to help offset costs. Since socialism abounds here in Oregon, OPL should use that money for all leagues to help offset costs. Or maybe install new infrastructure.

OYSA would have a lot more money if they didn't have such a huge payroll and expense accounts. They've staffed up and travelled considerably since they aligned with the Timbers cash cow.

The encl is making a lot of money but that is none of your business. So is Mercedes Benz but they aren't cutting the price so you can afford. Get over it.

The point you so obliviously miss is you have little ground to call out OYSA for what it is earning and it's expenses when you are a part of the most expensive program in the state. OYSA at least uses the money earned to spread out to everyone's benefit who plays with them…ECNL puts that money into two clubs, and very likely the pockets of two DOC's...
