how many teams from oregon have won national championships? there are few out there, but if we don't have a ton. like say, cal south or tx, then there still aren't enough for two teams.

Let's get real people. Neither is the perfect solution. The Thorns Academy is at least capped to an affordable price tag. The ECNL teams are currently feeling successful because they tied a NW ECNL team in NWCL so all is good with the land!!! Win win.

The Academy is just getting started and will grow.
I think that eventually we will have only one team from Oregon playing in the ecnl.

Thorns is not competing for the same players. In reality they are providing solid players a way of competing that doesn't break the bank. I think landing in the middle of the pack in FWRL shows that 1) they did get competition and 2) they were able to compete without even one blowout.
This came at a much cheaper price tag than ECNL which so far has a collective 50% win ratio against the two clubs that last year were not able to win 25% of their league games collectively. Given the cost, and using the analogy that the FWRL was a total failure then ECNL is taking that failure to all new levels at a price tag that is shocking.
Personally I don't really care how well the teams that my children don't participate on or compete against perform. It is not on my

They only would effect ECNL at their age group if there were some girls that could make and improve either ECNL club.
A 50% win ratio against teams that not able to win 25% of their league games, may or may not be a dig. One would need to look at the collective body of play / win loss of their opponents. Then one should do the same for the teams the thorns played in few games played in FWRL.
Cost ratios not a good way to compare. Costs are a direct relationship to how much any of the three teams traveled. Saying thorns is a cheaper alternate is simply saying they didn't really go anywhere, do anything.
