They now have ECNL & the top tier teams get to call themselves elite. History proves these teams tend to be the top teams (won most State Cups even back when soccer was one in Oregon).
Is the training worth the extra $800 per year. I would say hands down no. It is the same coaches & from what I am seeing it's still the top in Oregon but it isn't $800 additional worthy. As for travel the cost for teams who have always traveled from these clubs is approx. the same as pre-ECNL.
As for ID camps it's the best way to build a relationship with a college coach you are considering as one of your top college choices. You get to show them who you are as a player & who you are in between the drills. No matter how good you are an ID camp is a good idea. It gives you a chance to test out the coach a bit & see if you really like the program.
There isn't a comparison between TA & ECNL. The TA clubs are what they have always been. There are good players over at the Thorns Academy but let's be honest some if the girls who were our "top" ODP girls this year would never have been considered top if the true best players in Oregon were involved. That being said there is a place for everyone & if the kids are happy & they are getting something out of it then stay where you think you belong. Let's just stop trying to claim mine is better than yours.
Reality is reality, no matter how much anyone wants to claim otherwise.

I thought that ECNL was the magic wand, I guess not. You'd think for $10,000 that's all you would need, but apparently college ID camps are needed as well. Did Tom and Fraser cover this during the presentation?

Why beat up on ECNL?
