What has your club(DOC) done for their B and C teams lately?

Alot of nothing. During the season, they *might* come out to one practice and stay there for an hour.

While there, they note, "the team looks good."

Leaving w/o providing any coaching direction whatsoever. Most of the time it's these coaches that NEED the most input, but the DOC while understanding soccer, doesn't understand business. Although talking about the club being a pyramid and having many more B,C teams, they continue to fail the majority of their members.

The DOC on our girls side does a lot for all age groups. The guys side is hit-or-miss.

How exactly do they fail their members? Does your team have fields, quality coaching, practices, games? Are the kids having fun and getting better? Is your kid putting in extra effort outside practice to improve?

Do you expect the DOC to give all feedback to your coach in front of you or the kids? Are you close enough to the coach to be able to overhear their conversations? Would you like your boss to give you feedback in front of your peers and kids?

Parents need to get some perspective on what to expect from any sporting club be it soccer, baseball, football, or basketball.

Our DOC actually coaches a "B" team and helps everyone in player development

          Our DOCs

No, if they coached B teams that would be admirable.

Whoever your DOC is, they're a keeper!

Actually our DOC, and I won't mention his name or the club out of fear of upheavel from TS, spent a fair amount of time at our A team practices and games. He was there regularly. My understanding is that he spends quite a bit of time with many other teams, both boys and girls. According to some coaches, he's around a little TOO much.

Our DOC doesn't come out to the games, but our first team coach comes out to the games. He also runs the occasional practice, mixes the first and second team every 3 weeks or so for training, and is willing to sit down with parents to talk about player development. I didn't realize the DOC was needed at practices or games. I'm just happy there's direction and continuity between first and second team coaches. Also happy that the coach is transparent and approachable about appropriate matters. We've had at least one player each year move up from the B team to the A team.

I've seen the same coach work with other coaches and teams in our club as well. Maybe it's just that coach. We're happy.

Always loved it when they spin to the parents that it will be OK to be on a B team cause both the A and B team will practice together . But what really happens is that if you make the B team you are treated like you have the Ebola virus and need to be put in Isolation never to be near the A team ever. Hard to get better when you do not play around better players, and do not let good players play with lower quality players,,,, the fear is it might rub off !!!

So true! B team players are there for $ and to use to scare the bottom A team players that they better go all out or might be replaced. Most B team players would be better off playing in a decent rec league - unless parents have $$ to burn & like saying kid plays club. Parents & players finally catch on to this by older ages & many drop out of club then.

I completely agree, players will only improve if they are allowed to play against better players.

Our club does not do this...where is this?? My kids coach never gives feedback to us, not sure if he even does to my kid! He's unapproachable. Sign me up!

Best scenario is when the A and B teams have the same coach. Then there is no issue moving players up/down throughout the year as appropriate.

I agree somewhat. But sometimes they use it as a threat which is not right.
