Let's see, they would have been the first group that wasn't associated with a specific club, the first without any team history, the first from an alliance, the first to be rejected in the fall rather than as part of ECNL's selection process in late spring. Uhh, no it isn't a selection process throughout the year. Clubs apply, and the selection process is made late spring/early summer every year. The Thorns Academy never applied. It wouldn't have made sense for it to do so. Not sure why you want to make waves other than your apparent hatred of a competing opportunity for the girls.

The Thorns inquired but were turned away because they were not close to meeting the minimum requirements. They could have applied but it would have been a waste of their time.

You wouldn't even make comments like this if you knew anything about ECNL. It doesn't make sense for the Academy to do ECNL. They're realistic about what they can field. What is idiocy is for there to be two clubs in PDX doing ECNL. One is going to suck.
