    I guess that didn't happen.
EVERYONE is bashing everyone else on this stupid forum. I'm sure they picked up the best talent trying out. Isn't there something else a bit more constructive you can do other than pick yet another fight?

Tryouts aren't over yet, 3 more. There looked to be some great new additions. We're happy.

Sorry, they are all playing for SoCal teams and are committed to PAC 12 and ACC programs. We tried however.

            How many 16's

Does it look like any 16's are going to make the 25 lady Academy roster?

More like how many 14's and 15's are going to make the roster. If there is a deficiency in numbers, T.E. will always be glad to play favorites with some youngsters from her club. I think we will pass. My dd isn't that good, but what was out there didn't have the look or feel of 'academy' level play. She has opted to stay with her current group of girls.

The current U16 Copa (rising 17) is down a few players from last year, they need numbers. Using what is left of that team is a great way to start the Academy. I think the Academy is a great idea but lets be honest, it is nearly the same schedule the Copa teams had last year. Now they are just taking more players from the OYSA league. As far as the arguement about them not having a league to play in, well this isnt true. ECNL plays in the ECNLeague and FWRL plays in the FWRLeague. The FRWL teams will also play locally in games that are likely well below their level. I do wonder why a rising U16 would want to be on this team and play behind the 17's when they can play on their own Copa team and do the exact same schedule with less players.

                  Pressure to succeed

So the Copa team is going to be missing a few important players. What if they are not replaced in the tryouts and they don't win the FWRL and get to Regionals? Will the experiment be a success or failure. Will the Timbers follow through on the expansion?

Interesting question, but it certainly seems more responsible to start slowly and expand with success instead of ECNL jumping in with two clubs at 4 age groups before even knowing if the local economy will support the endeavor.

                      Missing a center defender.

Probably the best thing for her. Getting run over in practice because she doesn't know what she is doing isn't going to do her or the rest of the team any good. As you say, she isn't very good anyway.

Yet the Timbers/Thorns would have happily accepted an ECNL invite if given....

Sometimes you make the right decision by chance and sometimes by planning. Regardless of how, the right decision is the right decision.

You wouldn't even make comments like this if you knew anything about ECNL. It doesn't make sense for the Academy to do ECNL. They're realistic about what they can field. What is idiocy is for there to be two clubs in PDX doing ECNL. One is going to suck.

At least. At some age groups, perhaps both.
