Coaching is only 1/3 of the fromula

I love how the pro ECNL crowd march Tom out there when asked for credentials. Is he coaching all 10 teams? And it's not as if Onyx has been really great as of late in out of state tournaments. However, so CU has one coach, and he isn't coaching the age level of the academy so it doesn't really matter (he only took his Onyx players in tryouts too, so it's not as if the U16s that weren't former Onyx had anything to tryout for). You pro ECNL folk are so funny. You can only put down the academy, but offer up nothing as an alternative and then complain that a bunch of girls are going over there. Maybe if you offered up something better than what you're offering up, it would have been a difficult decision.

The difference between the ECNL coaches and Tina is unknown however the difference between the competition and the exposure is not even arguable.

The reason to do the Academy over ECNL is MONEY period end of story.

So rather than holding the tryouts at the Timbers practice facility in Beaver Town they reached for the aura of the Stadium.....ooooooo.

I bet they will have a cadre of Thorns players there to "sell" the program too!

If the Copa Girls stay out of the Academy as some posters have claimed I bet we will see some friendlies between the four teams. I would also not be so sure as the CU teams is not the team you think it was!

You are assuming that PDX ECNL will be worth a c(r)ap this year. That's a big stretch. It's highly likely that all teams will be very uncompetitive. New program, diluted talent, same coaches, ... No reason to think that this will be remotely successful. $10,000 to help the clubs find all the kinks and bugs is what is keeping people away. The ECNL clubs should be disappointed with their players who choose to not stay with them more than the players who choose to not come over.

No, it's the same team and it's not any better. They added head job parents and mediocre players from VT which is a push at best. Actually may have regressed. Especially with the new coach.
