Tina doesn't know the first thing about coaching...

Never had her as a head coach. She was an assistant to my DD's RTC this season. She seemed passionate and like she had a lot to offer. Her head coach did most of the coaching and Janine was the director of the RTC

Clearly you are feeling threatened. You have KK who's best resume attribute is being an assistant college coach. There are some head college coaches in this town who I would never have as a coach, much less some of the assistants.

I think the 97 ODP team liked her. She was the assistant coach on that team.

The key word was flunkies, not outside of PDX. You read it incorrectly.

Actually, we have GS and LC who happen to coach at some minor soccer college up on the bluff... Not to mention a former Timber or two...

Tina was only an assistant to ensure her daughter (who deserves it) and her fcsc squad made the ODP team (most of whom don't / didn't deserve it.) Until she quits coaching her daughter and friends, you can be ensured of misdeeds. If she is at all associated with the academy, there will be playups from U14 making the team.....

You are correct. Judging by the horrible things I've heard first hand she isn't a good coach.....yet. Hence Janine S. She will be the brains to this operation while Tina is the face of it.

That being said, that pairing along with a dedicated GK coach (Don't know his name) is 100x the coaching staff then FC or Thusc which has always been wanting.

Who trusts GS anymore? The guy is a walking salesman. LC hasn't quite figured out how to coach competitively and simply will just seem indifferent to everything.

I'd take THUSC/OSSA coaches over FC's ANYDAY. At least you know they want to be there.

With Janine and Tina on board, why don't they just call it what is is... ODP without quality competition.

I'd rather have my kid play up against older teams then fly to Idaho for their only competitive game.

Otherwise why pay 10k a year for bad coaching, bad development, and no doubt lose every game 4-0+.

Your kid won't make it, but go ahead pay them the application fee. Maybe they will keep her on like an RTC. She still won't make the team, but they will be able to pay Tina to make sure her daughter and friends make the team.

Better yet, since you want to play older teams, just arrange that with your current club and skip the additional fees and crappy coaching all together.

That's what the other ECNL teams are referring to games against PDX ECNL teams. However, it allows them to play their lower roster players to get some playing experience and it's a great time to allow the lower players to achieve that 25% starting games percentage. Four games against PDX does wonders for achieving those ECNL mandates.

I will bet $100 the CU teams do not have an average league GD of more than minus 2. I have watched ECNL and most of the base teams. Other than the 14s they are not going to be loosing game 4 nil. Besides even in those games there are lessons learned on weaknesses exposed. Winning big provides little benefit.

Overly opptomistic view from a dad who is now wondering if that big investment was really the best thing to do. Please remember your post so that when the results come in, you can look in the mirror and realize how wrong you were. U16 might have a GD of minus 2. The rest, well it won't be pretty. U18 has a shot at keeping it to -10.
