Why not have a 17/18 this year?
Other than starting the 13/14 team, yes, that is the plan. It will look similar to the boys program. And ignore the trolls, they think they know what's going on, but they don't.

Daughter was told at tryouts that there will be two teams next season. Thorns will have U16 and U18 next year.

Don't hold your breath. Thorns will be lucky to have one Academy team next year. No chance of more than that.

From the amount of TA kids, I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes the TA version of ECNL. If the clubs keep pouring kids into tryouts and pushing them this way it could potentially be quality.

I for one have made the recommendation to my daughter to wait a year to see how it turns out. We're deciding between accepting our ECNL spot of going to one of the 2 clubs that still have a good team to showcase with. I'm hoping the Thorns Academy works, I like the concept.

I'm a THUSC parent, and I hope ECNL and TA works out. It's good for all of our dd's to have these options.

I agree, I'm a Westside (son) and FCP (daughter) parent. Looking forward to hopefully seeing them all workout

Well it sounds like you know which clubs to send the kids to.

What's in it for the TA & OYSA clubs? They lose their best girl players and the $'s. They could and have formed these teams in the recent past with LESS competition for playing time.

                    Is she U16 or U17?

                      Why

You have said that you are excited to have TE as your new coach. I have to ask why?

Did any Copa parent go and watch her coach more than one practice?
Did any Copa parent go and watch her coach more than one game?
Did any Copa parent interview current parents?
Did and Copa parent interview any former parents?

In other words did you do any due diligence or are you just buying the resume?

Yes. You seem to forget she was an ODP coach. And furthermore, have the U17 CU parents done their due diligence on Kibwe? If not, you should. I mean, you really really should.

Yes a Copa parent did those things or yes we are buying the resume.

So you are hanging your hat on her ODP experience? What was that exactly?

I don't have a DD at this age but if I did I would have done my research on BOTH.

They did. I'm sure all are doing it. So why are you so worried? You seem like someone just trying to stir the pot since you don't have a dd at this age. So what age is your dd? Did you check out her coach and do the appropriate due diligence? And yes, I did speak to college coaches about Tina and they knew of her and spoke highly of her. I also asked if they had heard of Kibwe. They said no, never heard of him. But hey, this was only coming from Pac 12 coaches, so what do they know? My dd played for a top coach from another state and I mentioned his name to this Pac 12 coach. He knew him very well. I suggest going up to Tina and Kibwe and even Miguel and ask them if they know the coaches from the various schools a dd is interested in attending.

First I always check out the coach who is going to be guiding my DD's team and development which is why I asked. The fact that you said "they" asked tells me you are not with the Copa team. We have yet to see a post from an actual Copa parent who says they did the due diligence beyond the resume, not even "we had her for ODP". Not saying they didn't but in all of the attacks on TE we have not see a defense of her actual COACHING by a Copa parent.

Secondly, of course TE has a rep in the Pac 12 being a former top player but that is not the same as having a Coaching rep. If the coaches you were talking to said they would trust her judgment on a player that is what you are looking for. I'm not a Kibwe fan but your DD should not be relying on the coach for the sale of her skills anyway. It's an intro only because she has to deliver the good in a camp or showcase.

How do you know there is no defense from an actual Copa parent. You never know who is posting on here. And I don't think any of us need the condesending posts about how to get an offer. I do know that it means a lot to have a coach who really goes to bat for you and whose word means something. And just so you know, TE is well known outsider of the Pac 12. I hate to tell you this but ACC, Big 12, Big 10, WCC, .... coaches know who is on the WNT. I have a friend who is a coach in another state and she never played on the WNT but did play ACC. The coaches she knows are amazing and she's met them via playing and via coaching clinics and via networking. She knows of Tina and gave her a big endorsement. She doesn't have any idea who Kibwe is. I think when Tina gets contacted by the coach of a school and gives a strong recommendation for a player, it means a lot.
