What % of parents go to all the games

As I have been thinking about the hand wringing over the cost of ECNL and OR an equally competitive team I think that this is coming from younger parents whose teams didn't travel far and nearly every parent went to every game.

One of the things I don't think the parents of the would be ECNL teams are considering is that at the older age groups you don't get to spend much if any time with your player on the road leaving you as pure spectator.

In my experience around 40% of the parents traveled U15 and that dropped off to 30% U16+.

So when the discussion turns to what are the TOTAL costs for your DD to play ECNL IMHO the younger parents have a vision of what they are "used to" not what the reality of travel with older players typically looks like.

That being said I would love to get some feed back from other parents of U16+ teams that travel on the percentage of parents going to out of town events.

Not often unless it was a big event or someplace where we wanted to travel. Regular games: 25% or less after U16. Even less in college but even home games require travel there.

We go to the out of town driveable games. For the game which require flight, we go to most, but not all. For the local games, unless there is a time conflict, we go to all of them. Out of town tournaments are enjoyable for the most part and we like to go if the budget supports it and we have the time. We look at it as a mini-vacation and it's always nice to get the family away for a weekend, even if we spend a lot of it watching games and spending time with the other families. We still try to go do a few things as a family.

we go to home matches, drivable out of town ones and occasionally to further locales and treat them like mini-vacations. Nothing like when she was younger.
