The Timbers and OYSA will have a lot of explaining to do if they choose to subsidize a Thorns academy and not subsidize ODP.

Years ago I wished OYSA had a year round "club team" of sorts.

You are right though. They do have magical powers to promote Thorns Academy players to college coaches, because it doesn't exist as the Thorns Academy is a fantasy at this point.
.
If you looked at my earlier posts, I posited that it would make more sense to pick the Thorns academy and gave reasons. If the program fails to materialize then clearly it is not a choice. Your readiness to attack anyone with an alternate view indicates a lack of confidence in your your daughters and the ECNL. I will be surprised if the ECNL does well if only because one team from this area would have a difficult time even if it was free and everyone could play. The boys, who are arguably better than the girls, have a tough enough time.
And yes, I do have a daughter who declined to play D1 soccer so please try not to dismiss my comments with stupid ones.
And yes, I have been involved with the top 5 club in the areas s so I do understand the landscape. Anymore dumb comments will be ignored.
The real question, assuming the Thorns do produce an academy, is whether your doaughter receives more than should would with the ECNL. The Pavlovian comments from the posters so far have not addressed my argument that your dd would be better off. It probably would take a parent who has a son in the academy now to assess whether the benefits would be reaped by the girls. I think it could.
As for competition, the Thorns could easily enter into the ECNL if they so chose. You think they would turn down an MLS program--not going to happen. There may be alternatives that will depend upon the caliber of the girls. Not to pick on Thusc but they are D1/D2 program with very few exceptions when compared to the Seattle area. When you travel to SoCal, Xfire is a D1/D2 program with some exceptions. It is called population densities.
Get back to your discussions about drinking in the afternoon and which car to drive. Such an insightful group.
