I have not seen any completely out of line cost estimates. If the clubs are saying $7200 then you probably should assume it will be CLOSE to that but doesn't pretty much everything wind up costing more in life? I know I would be budgeting more than what the club told me just to be safe.

Da P O I N T is that we should not tolerate LIARS. The point is that the TA should have taken a public stance. The point is the OYSA should have taken a public stance. The point is that youth sport should not accept this attitude within any of it's organization or from the parents. We have codes of parent conduct at games so why not for between clubs and organizations. Or should we just not have any rules?

Big difference between trash talking and intentional efforts to damage the other entity...big difference.

the point is I don't give a f* about ecnl, even though they compete against me. the point i hope they do well, and i hope both portland teams somehow tie and share the national championship. the point is, to a large majority of people 6500 is essentially the same at 7000, and 7200 is close enough to 8000. the point is that the players that make the ecnl team will be good players. the point is they will likely not be all of the best players. the point is if you want to become a professional player (forget shooting low, for college) you need to be the best player on the field, head and shoulders better, for people to notice. the point is if you're that much better than anyone else on the field people will notice you, even if you are playing in the park.

Yes there will be two years over $8K but the liars would have had you believe that all five years were going to cost $8-10,000. They took that ruse even farther by implying that the fictitious total of $50,000 was on top of the money spent by top players already.

Even when confronted with the actual DIFFERENTIAL cost of $10-12,000 for the entire five years they persisted using the $10,000 per year EVERY year claims. Now do I seriously think they scared away more than one or two U14 parents with their BS? No.

But if they are associated with the TA in any way they should be held accountable for their campaign of lies. And that is ALL I'm trying to say. Period end of rant.

I'm not a doctor and I don't play one on TV, but if I were I would prescribe a dose of Calm Down. Nobody is going to listen if you continue to post aggressively.

You have a good point. But if you package it wrong, you will just get a defensive response and snarky responses.

As I read this it makes me think that people actually were not lying even a little. Even you state that U16-17 is $8 - 8.5k. Do I read that wrong? It's not perfectly clear as it's written, I guess. I think it is very reasonable to assume that there might be a few extra costs coming from somewhere, whether that is gas to airport, or whatever. So 8-10k seems fairly accurate. And rarely have I seen 10k used almost exclusively, as you suggest. Heck, even an entire thread was called '8k-10k' in costs. Although I agree that TS has quite a bit of undermining and exaggerations, based on what I think you are saying, it is quite over the top to call us all liars. In fact, it's a lie. You should be punished.
