Unfortunately, for ECNL the group that "Have the skills and commitment and can afford it" is a very small minority of players.
Scholarship money will be in extremely short supply for those that "Have the skills and commitment but can't afford it" Most here will opt out anyway.
So in order to get the numbers, they will draw from the group that "Are committed and can afford it but don't have the skills"

    Bottom line.....mediocrity.
It just shows your mentality and why OSYA/Timbers will always be second rate when it comes to girls soccer. Just have fun with your little MLS patch and foam finger. Leave the big girl soccer competition to us. OYSA = second rate soccer.

You do realize that people can recognize your writing style and the way you repeat the same tired phrases over and over. You must lead a pretty sorry life to be on here posting hundreds of times a day. Do us all a favor and get a life outside of your DD.

Eastside has 2 players that would make the ECNL team but Thusc Silver will have 15 or so that will make it? What planet are you on exactly? I have to write it all the way out . . .LAUGH MY ****ING ASS OFF

No club is "charging" 8 or even 10 thousand dollars for ECNL. Both clubs are charging $2,000. the balance is for TRAVEL. How much is EST charging $1,400? How much travel are the U 16 & 17's scheduled for? What collegiate exposure are they gonna get?

For all of the ECNL TROLLS here who say Oregon girls don't need ECNL to get to college I have to ask how many girls that have gone onto successful college careers have come out of a TA club? (Crickets Crickets). Now compare that number to the number who have come from the OPL now ECNL clubs and the proof is in the pudding. The fact that these clubs recognize the reality of female youth soccer and are attempting to keep up should be applauded.

The REALITY is the Alliance is doing everything possible to discourage their female players from leaving them high and dry to support their boys programs.

I believe they were talking about the EST 99 team and not the 00 from the reference about losing to Bend Timbers in the Semifinals.

              2) There is no possibility of the Timbers or Thorns or whatever to offer a better opportunity. Isn't that what RTC and ODP are for? There is no comparison to the ECNL for girls. None.

This really highlights the damage done by the Timbers and how dysfunctional soccer now is in Oregon.
Is it really a Timbers thing? I think some of the DOCs at the nonecnl Portland clubs would be discouraging their girls from doing ECNL if Timbers were not around. I know our Timbers alliance DOC has not discouraged our girls from doing ECNL. We are not in the Portland area but I know for a fact that our best couple of girls were not discouraged. Its a family decision and we may do it in the future but it's too much for our family this year.
